It's good to have cargo. Makes us a target for every other scavenger out there, though, but sometimes that's fun too.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Facebook just informed me that Pretty in Pink was released on this date in 1986.

I AM SO OLD. OLDER THAN DIRT. OLDER THAN GOD.

Great soundtrack, though. I had it on cassette. I should rustle up the mp3s on iTunes.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Interesting piece about the kid in Logan and the string of similar characters, starting with River Tam: [link]

Ann, that's a ferret.

Fans of the classics: TCM's Robert Osborne has passed away.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Go see Get Out right now. NOW. NO, NOW. As Megan said upthread, don't watch the trailer or read any reviews - all you need to know is that it's really, really good. See it with an audience, if you can. This is the kind of movie you should watch in a crowded theater.

Re: spoilers - it's not a "twist" movie, but the reveal is such an incredibly pleasurable slow burn that you should not deprive yourself of it, if you can.

(I do want to go and watch it again, to see how the movie changes when it's not a surprise, but I'm REALLY glad I wasn't spoiled for the first viewing.)

And for people who are genre-shy, I don't do horror movies. (Shaun of the Dead, and The Others are literally the only exceptions I can think of off the top of my head.) And I loved this a LOT.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Get Out was so, SO good.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

(For people who are not genre-shy, the thing that kept me from seeing it until now was that so many of the people who recommended it were horror movie fans, so I assumed it wasn't for me. WRONG. THIS MOVIE IS FOR ALL OF US.)

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

SUCH a good movie! Even if you've seen the trailers ahead of time (which I had).

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Basically, I need everyone to see it so that we can talk openly about THAT BIT WHERE THE THINGS HAPPENED AND YOU REALIZED LATER IT WAS ACTUALLY THAT OTHER THING HAPPENING AND IT WAS AMAZING. (Not a spoiler, literally the entire movie is those scenes.)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Seriously considering taking sick time this afternoon and going to see this movie.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I actively avoid horror movies (I didn't even see Cabin in the Woods, and yes, I know it's different, but no, I *still* don't plan to see it, so you don't need to tell me I should see it), and I've been regarding Get Out in the same light. But *maybe* I'll see it. I'm intrigued.
