Wasn't sure if I should put this here or in Streaming, but I just watched Brittany Runs A Marathon last night and I thought it was pretty good. I only wish I could get my life moving by, you know, moving, but it was still a good reminder of the importance of a goal, whether it happens like you think it would or not And, I thought it was good that losing weight didn't immediately fix her life.
Buffista Movies Across the 8th Dimension!
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
The Sheep Detectives is totally delightful and lot more emotionally affecting than I expected from the trailers.
Right? I liked the animation or however the sheep worked, too. I hope it’s not all AI driven or something
There were a couple moments of wonky CGI with the sheep but other than it completely sold the illusion for me. As far as I can tell it from reading online it was all done with "traditional" computer animation.
I will say it was little weird seeing the guy playing the reporter after seeing him as He-Man in the Masters of the Universe trailer immediately before the movie.
Heh, didn't notice that at all. Or maybe I saw different trailers, I saw it a couple weeks ago.
We watched Incredibly Bright Creatures on Netflix and really enjoyed it. Partly because it was filmed just up the coast from us and it was fun to see "our" landscape and coast in a movie. Probably too predictable and sentimental for a lot of people, but I'm finding films too psychologically challenging these days. I suppose I'm turning into my mom who watched Wheel of Fortune every day--appointment TV.
I saw Backrooms at the theater Tuesday night. A very weird movie, but worth seeing for Chiwitel Ejiofor's performance alone. It was really good at causing anxiety even when not much was happening.
Oh, I want to see that, Beverly. I didn't know it was out already

We read it for book club and the movie did it justice. It was just a pleasant time with both.
This was almost the worst time I could have picked to watch "Poor Things" Too hard not to identify. But if I'd gone to the theater, it could have been like the flip side of watching "Ice Castles" with the girls from eighth grade chorus. Not quite as bad as watching that sad-tutor Brendan Fraser movie after the trump re-elect, though.
