Finally saw
Captain Marvel.
The plot held my interest more than most, and it's probably the first in the MCU that made me care about the infinity stones mythology aspect. Some great girl power moments, including one that was very Buffyesque. Fab soundtrack.
And now I'm playing my favorite (not really, but I can't help myself) game whereby I look at the negative reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and see what that reviewer said about other mediocre (but male-centered) Marvel movies.
Armondo Iannucci is making a Sci-Fi comedy for HBO with Hugh Laurie as the captain, like, sign me the fuck up right now, please: [link]
But the reason why I'm posting on the Movies is that last line. He is shooting a David Copperfield adaptation starring Dev Patel in the title role??? HOW COME I'M ONLY HEARING ABOUT THIS NOW. And what a supporting cast, with Laurie, Peter Calpaldi, Tilda Swinton, Gwendoline Christie (!), and Ben Wishaw (!!). What an embarrassment of riches.
Saw
John Wick 3
last night and it did not disappoint. If you are a fan of the first two, I imagine you will like this one. And I'm sure that a number of Buffistas will appreciate the first thirty minutes in particular.
So, question for those familiar with the franchise: Would you say "Mewtwo breaks out of containment and trashes the lab he was imprisoned in" is the most cliche'd opening for a Pokemon movie or not?
Weiss and Benioff are in charge of the next Star Wars film after Rise of Skywalker: [link]
I've got a bad feeling about this...
Time travel back to Darth Vader! Save Alderaan!
Can Maisie Williams be a Jedi?

That is clearly influenced by the original 70's The Wicker Man, one of my faves. It looks splendidly atmospheric and I love Florence Pugh, who plays the lead. But I still haven't recovered from Aster's first film, Hereditary (so great, so fucking traumatizing OMG)
I usually happily go to movies by myself but might have to recruit a friend to come with. Being a scaredy cat who loves certain brands of horror is a dicey process.
I cannot WAIT for that movie. And yeah,
Hereditary
was so great and traumatizing. I want to rewatch it (I've been told that there's so much more to find on a rewatch), but I haven't felt brave enough to do it.
