I was mostly hoping that Justice League wouldn't suck, so it exceeded my expectations. I basically liked it, though it can't hold a candle to Wonder Woman.
I REALLY want a Flash movie. Ezra Miller was great.
And, as a fan of the first animated Teen Titans series, I did indeed squee when Cyborg
said "Booyah."
The second post-credits scene made me sad to
see that goddamn horrible Lex Luthor. Ick.
But
super intrigued by Deathstroke,
although
Manu Bennett set a really high bar on Arrow.
I saw the picture Joe Manganiello tweeted out of him
in the Deathstroke suit and boy do he and Manu Bennett look similar, even if the cinematic Slade is going to have the comics' gray hair and beard.
I was pleased with the similarity to comics
Deathstroke,
though I do love
Manu Bennett
enough to not care about the deviation.
I enjoyed Justice League, but as Steph said, the bar was set at "just don't suck". The villain was awful, and every time they said his name,
I heard "Born to be Wild" play
in my head.
Oh, and despite my grousing about Joss Whedon doing reshoots, it amused me that, unless I missed something,
the only character with bare feet was Supes and not Diana.
It cracked me up that
he managed to somehow lose his socks in that explosion and the subsequent flight upward. How does that happen? Though I am thankful to Mother Box for conveniently disintegrating his shirt and jacket.
I think really Aquaman should have been barefoot prior to dressing in Atlantean military swag. If, y'know, they'd had him actually swim rather than propel himself through water by power of Jason Momoa's infamous flatulence or whatever...
I think some people here might find this interesting. It's a set of essays on Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, interested especially in the politics of the movies.

The author has also written a book about the history of Wonder Woman: [link] He also has a review of the movie thereof, in which he offers a distinctly idiosyncratic perspective: [link]
Ooh, thanks. Totes interesting!
There are three movies floating out there that start with "Wonder" (Wonder, Wonderstruck, Wonder Wheel) and I keep confusing one with another. I think I might want to watch Wonderstruck, the latest Todd Haynes? Except it came and went in the local theater in, like, a week. Did anyone see it?
In other news, David Ehrlich from Indiewire just posted his yearly 25 Best Films of the Year: Video Countdown: [link]
I love these, even when I disagree with his picks. Each video is like a delightful vidlet medley on indie films of the year and clearly a labour of love, and is catnip to those who love movies, lists, and vids, of which I am one. All the songs he sets the montages to have been used in films released that given year (not necessarily on the list), and unexpected and often hilarious pairing of the images and the music is one of my favourite things about them. There was one song choice in this year's effort that made me HOWL.
Wonderstruck is fantastic - highly recommend if you can find a theater that's showing it!
Wonder is also good, if you have kids who have read the book, plus bonus Daveed Diggs for the parents.
Wonder Wheel is Woody Allen, so I haven't seen it.
