Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
How frustrating Connie.
I did hear back from Ask A Manager. Her reply was that employers pay OT for hours worked. Which is an incomplete answer, to me. Yes, I agree, in excess of hours worked. But it essentially means I don't get paid the holiday.
I did find documentation in our employee policies that OT is only paid for exempt employees who have over 80 hours of client billable work. Which, once again, makes the holiday unpaid. Or the OT unpaid. But technically it follows policy. I think it is a stinky loophole. But whatever.
Argh! Just found out we've been victims of identity theft. Someone took a $10,000 loan out in our name. How did I find out, you ask? Payment coupons just arrived in the mail. Fuck. First phone call with the CU went okay, at least they believed me, but we'll see how long it takes to clear this up.
Your CU is not related to Wells Fargo, is it?
So in defense of people trying to get me to change grades, they are all about second, third and eightieth chances. The pressure around passing students has to do with how rigged and broken the system is and how important it is for students to have the right credentials to be able to access other things. I just want the credentials to match the skills and I believe that given some more time, it will. I don't think my colleagues believe that.
Though I am still ragey about it.
I understand that, Kat. Part of my outrage, maybe even the bulk of it, is not that the grades aren't "right" but that the grades given by you for good reasons were changed by someone not you and even if I grant that there was a good reason (which would take some doing) that's pretty wrong.
I am having a real hard time imagining your pay stub, Suzi. Not expecting you to explain in any more detail, just acknowledging that I do not think I have an accurate picture of how that all works in my head.
I should list what I have to do tonight. #1 eat. #2 make list of everything else I have to do...
Brenda, how cool is that? Your org is a BFD, and we knew you when!
Kat, I'm sorry that your leadership is not being supportive of what should be your main mission: making sure kids learn the material. I'm ragey on your behalf.
Oh man, Burrell. That will be a pain in the ass to handle, but it shouldn't be too hard. A lot of phone calls. A LOT of phone calls, potentially.
You guys should be proud I didn't shout out "all lives matter! And what happened to white history month?!?" It was a near thing, I'll tell you.
I'm proud you didn't BURN IT DOWN. #banmen
Damnit, I suck at meara-ing. Burrell, I'm sorry about the identity theft. It's such a pain in the ass to deal with, and I hope the credit bureaus and financial institutions don't give you too much grief.
The only time I get testy about being excluded by gender from a women's event is if it features male strippers.
Oh, Burrell, how awful! I hope your Credit Union helps you through this.
