Don't worry, I'm not gonna start any sword fights. I'm over that phase.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

God forbid my mother or I have reason to say Dakar anymore. Dakaaaaaar!

Sigh. Pool closed again.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Ugh, my ears feel clogged. I can hear perfectly fine, there's just pressure in there.

No swim, but I did my nails and went through old bills to shred. Retiring D's final gift to me was to tell me that work has an industrial shredder anyone can use, but it's hidden away and unadvertised. Also, that if I ever need to vent, to call her. She was my rant-go-to.

I gotta write her a letter. She sent me a sweet email, but I was not going to be able to compose a full response without crying ( and told her as much.) And then my boss reminded me I had to revoke her permissions on stuff and I yelled at my screen and burst into tears.

I'll see her again, her church group meets nearby, she's got her CSA to still pick up this summer, when she's in town. Her son's getting married in 2 weeks down south and they're going to meander back.

Librarian Warlord

Yay, Suzi!

Cool, Sue! I will be in Cracow in October, so maybe we can figure out a F2F.

Steph, I would be clear with your in-laws that you will have no part in manipulating you FiL to the beach, because surely they will think your silence is agreement?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I always love hearing her say "This is Ophelia Quist-Arcton, Dakaaaarrrrrrr."

I'll have to listen for her. I got to go to Dakar in December '08, and I loved it.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Sue, that is really exciting and cool!

Oh, god, the number of times I want to yell "You're not the boss of me!" in goal-setting meetings at work is very large. I have to sneak up on myself to stay on track to accomplish things I want very badly to do, because I have such a kneejerk response to To Do Lists.

So very me. Don't tell me what to want to do, dammit.

Thanks for sharing that link, I love her!

Sue, that is totally exciting news!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

My uncle showed up this morning at the weekly family breakfast gathering with a really big band-aid on the side of his neck..

"Vampire attack?" I asked. There were chuckles.

"Accident with a barbecue fork?" A few more chuckles, but no one got the reference. Oh, well.

(The prosaic actual cause was a biopsy.)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Wow, Sue!!

I went up to Sacramento for a 5k with a coworker (actually, there were four of us doing it but I never saw two of them) this morning, which was good fun and not as blazingly hot as we feared it would be. I am home again and didn't make any plans for the rest of today because I thought I would be tired and it would be super hot but neither of those has come to pass. I may do some of the zillion things on my to do list, or I may sit on the couch and watch the rest of Lucifer. I am okay with either, I think.
