About all useful I got done today is buying a ladder (woke up too late to make a meeting) and then I'll swim. Thought I'd at least make some appointments, but honestly too groggy and out of sorts to use those spoons.
All nighters are definitely things I can't really pull off anymore. Plus, I think I might've been allergic to something in friends' house; I'm so sniffly today. Hopefully not a kid plague.
I just told my boss, "It's great that you have so much confidence in me, but I don't actually know things until someone tells me. I can't absorb information by osmosis." She laughed.
See, there's this meeting every Wednesday with "Janet from DC". I spoke with Janet once, four months ago. Since then, every Tuesday I get Janet's meeting agenda. I check it, it doesn't apply to me, and I delete it. There are never any of my publications on it, there's no conference-call information for telecommuters, and no one ever mentions it to me, so I've been ignoring it. Today my boss asked me if I had asked Janet about [problem] in the meeting. I said, "huh? I'm not in those meetings." So, yeah, apparently I'm supposed to be in those meetings, and I'm just supposed to magically know to contact Kevin to set me up with the Webex info. (why Kevin? why would I know that? no idea)
And the higher-ups wonder what we're talking about when we say communication is bad around here.
That list is kind of amazing, bennett. It sure looks like the rate of death from incidents relating to being a cop is low enough to just match the rate from illness and accident.
...and then I reach the bottom, and there's like 8 K9 officers in a row who died of heat exhaustion since the end of May. WTF?!
So my cat is not traumatized from her day in the bathroom, and I have some new windows! But not all new windows, and apparently there's still some work to be done on my front windows, so I guess I shouldn't put the furniture back, curtains up, etc. They look really nice, though!
I need/want new windows. I probably need other things more, though. I am kind of worried about my plumbing in a 'full copper re-pipe' kind of way, even though it's the cast iron drain pipes that are worrying me.
Yay windows! And blasé Hazel.
Only got a mile in before a kid barfed. But I'm ok with that. I'm actually physically exhausted and that was a hard, whiny mile....
The only moving-related things I've done today are pick up the 6 month supply of contact lenses that I ordered and pack up more personal items from my desk that I need to take home. I feel like I'm dropping the ball.
I need to play around with room modelers tonight to figure out furniture, so I guess that will be my enormous task for the day.
My aunt called my mother to make sure that I'm OK and not "in a riot."
I need/want new windows. I probably need other things more, though.
I am Sue. Windows are on the list, just way down it. BUT as I posted yesterday I am finally doing some house stuff. 8/4 appts for fence estimates and electrical inspection which will then come with an estimate for the work I want (grounding all outlets, adding electrical to ceiling in front room and ceiling in garage, and whatever he finds wrong). after those two jobs get priced and then scheduled the list is:
1) repair termite damage - parts of baseboads, drywall, doorframes
2) repair drywall and install new medicine cabinet in my bath
3) check/fix roof over my bedroom - weird inconsistent leak
4) new garage door with keypad entry
5) attic entry
6) door on my bath
7) new windows
8) new carpet/pergo
then move. kidding, kind of. I should be able to get all that done in less than 4 years and it will help resale, especially the windows.
