"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

So, my family ran a 5K today. We ran with two of my coworkers, one of which is Noah's teacher and the other could easily be his teacher for 4th and 5th. After the first mile, they left me behind and he ran with Io, the 4th/5th teacher. It's really cool to experience my school in a totally different way.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Randomly, I hate that so much of the language around freedom and civil liberties has been, in the United States, so tangled up in the Libertarian messaging (by design) that I keep seeing all fictional discussion about them dismissed as Libertarian messaging by fellow progressives.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Finally got my casserole baked and tasted - did not have time before Tai Chi yesterday. needs more liquid (or less matzo) but the concept is sound and the three servings I have of this batch will do fine for breakfasts even if I don't see if they can soak up some more cream or whatever.

Discovered yesterday that my parents' favorite hardware store is going out of business, the owner is retiring, which meant I spent rather longer than I meant to wandering amongst the shelves and deciding what I should and should not buy at the steep discounts they are now offering (e.g.: meat grinder that I have been kinda thinking about for a while, yes; under cabinet lighting that I would not be able to install until several other projects are completed, no) which in turn meant I did not get much done around the house yesterday, so I should really get with the program today, but I am getting a slow start.

Tangentially, some day I will presumably be able to listen to Nothing Compares 2 U without crying but yesterday was not that day. The dangers of listening to the radio instead of podcasts while driving.

Because books.

I'm getting choked up every time I hear or play (There'll Never B) Another Like Me.

When you live in times where you check Twitter to decide which target to go to. Because candidates and Clintons and Sanders and protest marches traffic. Because Baltimore.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Got my grocery shopping done. Resting for a bit before I start making the eggplant matzo lasagne for dinner. Actual baking time is 35-40 minutes, but there's a lot of prep time involved. (Mostly chopping and sauteeing vegetables)

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Took my mother out for birthday dinner, and it was delicious! If a little pricey.

Went to the city Target, annoyingly large contingent of cop cars. But also a guy waiting with his baby girl for the car to be brought around broke out singing Purple Rain and a waiting cabbie joined in.
