May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Aside from Trump's veep pick, something else occurred to me. I've heard Hillary vilified for being a liar, cheat, criminal, and an establishment politician who's married to That Man, but I haven't heard anything about her being unqualified for being a woman. I'm sure somewhere in the depths of the evangelical and ultra-orthodox circles there are people horrified at a woman not being in her place, but Hillary's gender hasn't come up. Is it because she's a woman of a certain age, so her femaleness is kind of irrelevant? Does she terrify people so much that she transcends what people perceive her gender should be/do? In any case, this pleases me.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I think she scares the crap out of Far Right Republicans too much for them to make with the usual patronizing chauvinist bullshit.

Our wings are not tired

So, who would he pick?

His hair.

I want a summit between Hillary and German's Merkel. With possibly the Queen nearby smiling faintly.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I think the misogyny is just unspoken, but it's part of many of people's objections.

Ann, that's a ferret.

So, what are the theories on a running mate for Trump. He doesn't play well with others. At all. So, who would he pick?

I suspect Sarah Palin, as a reward for her relatively early endorsement. (Chris Christie is angling for Attorney General.) Or he'll go outside the political world completely, but I can't imagine who.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

The violence at Trump's rallies is what really scares me. People who will do stuff like that on command are terrifying.

I think it's less "on command" and more "with permission". They're in a mob of like-minded people with a leader who encourages anger and physical violence. There are an awful lot of people in this country who've been longing for the opportunity to express their violent resentment of, you know, almost everyone. You'd be appalled, if you don't already know it, what thoughts people are willing to express to a white woman with a Southern accent, expecting a sympathetic response. If Trump wins, there will be an increase in attacks on brown people and foreigners by middle- and lower-class whites, regardless of what policies he enacts. That's my prediction.

Great. Dumb and Dumber.

Man, one time I was outside when a white couple showed up to look at the house for sale across the street. The guy doesn't cross the street to talk to me, but starts yelling questions, like "Do you like living here?" etc., including (yelled at top volume), "Are there..." [pause] "Black people who live around here?"

So I smiled and cheerfully yelled back "Yup, there sure are! It's a great neighborhood!"

SPOILER: They did not buy the house.

In New Orleans someone asked that? There are parts of New Orleans without black people?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Today is just interminable, right?

I think the misogyny is just unspoken, but it's part of many of people's objections.

Basically I just agree with Dana today.
