Actually, I was thinking it would be sort of like a pet. You know, we could...we could name her Trixie, or Miss Kitty Fantastico, or something.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

OMG Spider-Man. I'm on my phone, so hoping I don't fuck up spoilers font:

Matt Murdock! I had been spoiled for the possibility of it happening. I wish I could have gone into it cold but I'm so excited. I love him.

Everything was great. Andrew Garfield is just a fucking delight, and I loved that they're all really emotional and good-hearted.

My audience

yelled for Garfield and yelled louder for Maguire.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I think the only actor who had more fun with his role than Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, and Jamie Foxx did with their roles was Andrew Garfield, and good for him, man.

I love that the older Spider-Men have back issues. Hashtag relatable.

I've seen it twice, and if omicron weren't such an issue, I'd go see it again ASAP. But I think I'll be holding off on movies for a while again.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

If I were going to see Spider-Man on Thursday, would I want IMAX or 3D or standard?

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Hawkeye

I enjoyed the finale.

I enjoyed the funny bits and the action sequences, although I shouted "No!" when they took the tree down.

Was there any special significance to the owl? Edited to add, the answer seems to be "yes."
Significant to the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, anyway.
See: [link] and the last paragraph of the History section of this Wikipedia article: [link]

And I got most of the happy ending I wanted.

Although, I kinda wish Yelena had been among the "strays" that Clint brought home for Christmas. I would like to have seen how they played introducing Yelena as "Auntie Nat's sister" to the family.

And so it turns out that Tony was partially right about Laura.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Hawkeye

That finale was pretty much perfect, though I'm going to need to rewatch it on my TV because my tablet was not doing the action scenes justice, I'm sure.

While your thought would have been nice, dcp, I don't think Yelena was ready for that yet.

Unrelated to that, in no way do I believe they would have gone through all the trouble of bringing Kingpin into the MCU to just to kill him off an hour later.

ETA: If there's a Season 2 I hope it's Kate and Yelena as the duo. Was it here or somewhere else that someone linked to the article where Kate and Yelena's scene in episode 5 was almost entirely improv?

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I'm back from taking Ryan to see Spider-Man, which was fantastic. And of course I totally agree with Steph, and am impressed that you totally called MJ being rescued by Andrew "With great heights come great responsibility" Garfield.

A couple of thoughts:

1. The arc of Peter's story of course pivots around Aunt May's death. Which, not thrilled about the fridging issue. But what I did like is that - given they were going the multiverse route, and the other two Spider-Men were going to show up - that they actually had particular emotional relevance to the story, rather than just serving as spectacle.

Finishing with everyone forgetting Peter. Emotionally it's all centred on his relationships with MJ and Ned; but is this setting up for Sony to cut ties with the MCU?

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

Steph, I had the same reaction as to you to what happened to Aunt May.

HOWEVER, given that Uncle Ben has never been mentioned once, and considering some things MCU Peter says earlier, I think it's safe to say this was supposed to be the MCU equivalent of the burglar incident.

Which means, interestingly, that the period from Civil War through Far From Home is the MCU equivalent of the period from his debut as a wrestler to the burglar incident, where he was briefly a celebrity.

Which kind of fits with his position as someone with Tony Stark as mentor and resource.

On Hawkeye: I want Armand Jack to join the LARPers. I want it a lot.

Jacques! Or is it Jack? Anyway, he needs a leisure time activity.
