So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

So Hawkeye is getting the TV series no one asked for but apparently, we get? IDEK there. Which means Renner's not done quite yet.

I did the "Hulk eating lunch" pee break and made it to the end (difficulty level: third trimester).

Well done! Damn!

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I just read somewhere that an alternate timeline now exists where Loki has a stone.

Also

these people read Cap as going back to sometime in the 40s therefore wiping out Peggy marrying whoever was mentioned as her husband, but since he was never named I want to believe that future Steve took on the identity of someone else to everyone else but Peggy.

I searched last night on contract info for remaining people but did not find anything real tight. Especially since many have renegotiated. Pretty sure Sebastian has at least 4 more movies on his contract though. The stuff I did read said st one point Rennet had said that his contract included a Hawkeye movie. I cannot see a market for that so maybe the series has replaced that. There is also the Loki series. Gotta think that the Black Widow movie is an origin story that would include Hawkeye, right?

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I don't like the idea of wiping out the TV show from the timeline, which would happen if he went back to the 40s. I assumed he just stayed in 70 after dropping off the stuff he and Tony grabbed.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Well, I just saw it. Going backward, more or less, my first comment is fucking clanging?!?!? I sat through watching the name of everyone who has ever so much as spit in the direction of Hollywood scroll by just for a black screen and fucking clanging?!?!? OK, yes, an homage to the genesis of Iron Man and all that. But still. Anyway, Tony and Steve had good endings. For that matter, so did Natasha, in a way. I'll admit, I didn't expect to lose more than one of the original six, so Stark was a surprise. Good way for him to go, though, saving all life in the universe. I'm pretty sure Peggy looked like her 1940s self, not 1970s, so I'm thinking Steven went way back. My theater went absolutely nuts when Sam's voice came over the comms and then the Wakandans showed up. The last, big fight scene was really well done. I loved Thor's mom, and it was great to see her again for a little bit. Gamora's arc was good, although it feels like shooting your earlier self could lead to some timey-wimey issues. There were lots of other bits that were satisfying. I'm sad that we'll never get a Black Widow movie. I feel like Captain Marvel was underused, but with so many characters there probably wasn't a way to do more with her.

Anyway. First reactions and all that.

FWIW - I think we will get a Black Widow origin movie.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

That...did not go the way I expected. But I liked it! I cried, but I didn't ugly cry like I thought I would.

I will never, EVER get over Cap using Mjolnir. EVER. I think I actually shrieked in the theater, while all the other, more reasonable people just clapped.

It's a tiny thing, I know, but I was so damn happy to see Jarvis in the 1970s.

Not a fan of the fat jokes. They're just mean and a cheap way to get laughs. To be clear, I don't have a problem with portraying someone who experienced an absolute shitload of trauma trying to cope by turning to alcohol and food. I don't have a problem with Thor getting chunky as a result of that. But the jokes at his expense were unkind and really unnecessary.

I'm super tired, so I'm sure I'll post more tomorrow. I just want to say in conclusion: needed more Venom.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Ryan and I have seen it! And I am proud to report that we both managed to get through the entire movie without a single toilet break.

Ok, back to read the whitefont.

Re: Steph's I don't have a problem with portraying someone who experienced an absolute shitload of trauma trying to cope by turning to alcohol and food. I don't have a problem with Thor getting chunky as a result of that.

I agree. And the jokes were a bit mean spirited. I expected it from Rocket, not so much from Rhodey. Also, did you notice that Thor got to drink himself into a beer belly and questionable hair choices, but Valkyrie—who was also drinking her way through major trauma at the beginning of Thor 3—had to stay hot? Not that I mind watching Tessa Thompson being the hot bi superhero we've been crying out for (AT ALL), but there's a wee bit of a double standard going on there.

The scene with the woman squad powering their way across the battlefield was nice. Speaking of the battlefield, that much CGI is really blurring the line between live action and animation in a way that leads to beautiful fight scenes and problematic awards. Spend much more time with computerized monsters and Michael Douglas and these movies will start to qualify for best animated feature.
