Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ahhhh! That was so much better than I was expecting!!!

I absolutely screamed when Cap picked up Mjolnir.

The moment of all the women surrounding Carol was a little gratuitous, but if this means the next era of the MCU is basically Carol not needing no man? I'm HERE FOR IT.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Sam becoming Captain America yet.

Also I was laughing because when Kat P was talking about the red carpet, she said something like, "Everyone who's ever been in one of these movies just showed up for the premiere." But NO! They were ALL in it! Except they couldn't get (or CGI) Lupita just for one of those balcony scenes?

And my cousin wondered about the kids in school -- are half of them kids who were five years behind? I guess so? I refuse to think too hard about the ramifications of time travel.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I can't believe no one has mentioned

That was excellent.

I've been awake for 2 damn hours even though it's a Saturday and I don't have to be up at 7. Thanks, brain. So I've been thinking too much about the implications of Steve staying in the past, and even though it's SO emotionally satisfying, it's really troubling me. Because, if I'm understanding the rules the movie established for time travel, in order to not fuck up the existing timeline, Steve could stay in the past, but couldn't intervene in anything that he already knows has happened/will happen. And that means he knowingly lets Bucky be tortured and brainwashed and turned into an assassin. And after Civil War, where Steve was ready to burn the world down to save Bucky, I just can't see Steve living through what he knows is going to be done to Bucky and doing nothing. I don't dislike the choice for Steve to stay in the past, because he deserved a happily ever after as much as Tony did, but I'm just conflicted about what it means.

I thought that Captain Marvel was woefully underused, but I know the movie was more about wrapping up the OG Avengers, and Carol is the future of the MCU.

And my cousin wondered about

Jesse, I wondered about that, too.

Oh! You guys, did your theater collectively gasp when Clint's family got dusted? Ours did, which was kind of awesome, in the sense of "Oh, I'm in a theater full of fans like me!"

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Tep, for my own mind thought stuff...

if Nebula can kill her past self and remain alive and past!Gamora can remain in the future, her timeline all Jeremy Bearimy, Steve and SWINTON! totally found a way to allow him and Peggy to have some sort of pocket timeline in the dot of the Bearimy i.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I'm willing to accept A Wizard Did It (aka SWINTON Did It) as an explanation for events. Steve just made sure SWINTON was his last stop on his tour, and she and the Time Stone deposited him in the correct timeline.

It makes total sense to me! Including a trip back (perhaps one way) to his primary timeline after they'd lived their life together.

And now that we're actually talking about it in our whitefont... I LOVE HOW THEY FORESHADOWED SAM GETTING THE SHIELD BY STEVE TAKING ON SAM'S ROLE IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE SNAP, OMG. Steve leading the support group is such a What Would Sam Do? kind of thing and...ugh. I adore them so much.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

There is no way to ever really make the MCU and AoS fit together in the same timeline anymore is there?

also the callback "on your left" KILLED ME.

Also Also our whole theater cheered when Cap got Mjolnir, but Valkyrie needs it now, no?

And WRT the PTSD Thor and him vs. Valkyrie. She was just an alcoholic straight up. He was junk food eating, no activity, alcoholic. totally different in my mind. I think I am in the minority, but I did not think there was much joking about his weight. Maybe because my theater didn't laugh much at it after the first revel and that was more gasping/giggling. Maybe also because I noticed more the number of Avengers that did not comment at all, and more the comments about his general lack of care, not weight. (thinking of the smell comment from Rocket and the Lebowski comment, I think from Tony, and his mother's comments about his clothes.).

I am still rolling things around in my head a day and a half later. I am not one for re-watching films and I do not think a rewatch would help me with any of my questions. The biggest being the Cap timeline and I like the retcon of the Ancient one doing whatever to make it not mess with the timeline we know and giving them a happy happy alternate timeline with many many sexy times.

msbelle same, re: Thor vs. Val. She was an active fighter while boozing it up. Thor became a recluse slob who spent his time playing video games (a safe thing where you can win or lose with no consequences) and drinking.

Honestly? I'm more than willing to accept Jeremy Bearimy as an explanation for how Steve could go back and be with Peggy without fucking up the whole timeline to hell and back.

Steve's reaction of "You've gotta be shitting me" when he ran into 2012 Steve is a reaction GIF I need forever more. Total mood. And I really really loved that he was able to continue being a low-key troll with the "Hail Hydra" to Sitwell. (I mean, I know it was the best way to just walk away with the scepter, but it was also straight up trolling, and Troll Cap is Best Cap.)

Guys, I get WAY too invested in my fannish interests, because I am just really sad today that this part of the MCU is basically over. I mean REALLY sad. I know there's more to come, but I love the OG Avengers.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

The callback to the elevator scene was amazing.

I will definitely be going to see it again Monday or Tuesday. I want another shot at the big battle scene because I started happy crying at everyone who had been gone arriving to back them up.

I also need to look again, because there was someone at Tony's funeral I didn't recognize.

I had the same thought about high school, and specifically Peter and his high school class. I guess we just assume that all of the relevant people were dusted?

I think with respect to Thor's weight, I come down on the side of being pleased that he never magically fixed himself, it was just something indicative of a larger problem that he knows he had. Basically, it could have been a whole lot worse.
