Watching The Mandalorian and having a moment of "Ooh, hey, I've seen this movie!"
Oh, gosh, Atropa, yeah, miss this one.

I nearly lost my shit on this episode and those things don't normally get to me as much.
I totally got the other vibe with the Child, though. Oy.
I am not liking this little development about Baby Yoda.
Right? For me, it would have been funny to watch Din repeatedly catching Baby Yoda going for the eggs, scooping him up and saying "NO, we have been over this, those are not food, you are getting a time-out" in Exasperated Parent Voice.
Although I'd have happily lost 70% of that for whatever came out of a slightly different conversation on the ship:
"You got Zero's vocabulizer working? Great. What do I call you, do we have a language in common or do we need to keep using this, and are there any other electronics repairs you can take on so that we can get our kids off this planet before we freeze to death/miss your deadline?"
I have to assume that Din's disinterest in finding out his passenger's name was a characterization beat showing his continued misanthropy?
Queen's Gambit is my favourite viewing this year. For rabbit hole fun, there are bunches of articles to read, and a really interesting interview on Pop Culture Happy Hour with a female child chess prodigy, though the series supposedly is based on Bobby Fisher.
The lead looks very much like Plei, don't you think? Anyone else a fan of the show?
It's right up there with Justified, Mad Men, The Americans, Breaking Bad et al.
Asking despite low expectations, anybody watching The Untamed on Netflix?
I watched a couple of episodes of The Untamed to see what the fannish buzz was about. Totally get it, too. But I'd prefer dubbed over subbed, as I am usually doing something while the tv's on, and it's easier if I can hear what's going on rather than reading it. So I haven't continued it. It's a beautiful show, though.
Did anybody tell you to start with Ep. 3, watch through ep. 30 something, watch 1&2 and continue? I didn't do that, and on rewatch I didn't again, b/c I knew stuff this time. I've rewatched, and have most of the characters, their connections and associations worked out, and am working on remembering the names. The pretty is very distracting.
I checked Netflix just now. I remembered there was a 'languages and subtitles' button, and yes, I was right. You have a choice of multiple languages, none of which is English, so I can see your problem. Thanks for giving it a shot though. I have no idea why I've tumbled in so deep to this series. I'm holding off on my third (!) rewatch and doing some meta reading. Plus, Netflix has several similar shows, so I'll be sampling some of those. I do think the complicated, gorgeous fantasy has been a valuable antidote to real life the past several weeks. I probably wouldn't have had the patience, otherwise.
