Brunch was completely heartbreaking and utterly wonderful and perfect, and Polgara, Allyson, Burrell, Kristen and all the others involved in coordinating it outdid themselves. ita's family are amazing people; I'm so grateful for having been able to thank them for sharing her with us.
This isn't something we need to decide now, but I'd like to share something that I've been feeling a lot today. There's been talk of having a second memorial service so others could come into town and celebrate her life, especially Buffistas from afar, and initially mid-February had been tossed out. But I think the LAistas who have been immersed in this so deeply need some time. They have been endless sources of strength and love for ita and her family over the past two weeks while also dealing with their own grief, and I can see how difficult it has been for them. I wonder if perhaps we could have a gathering this summer -- maybe in July -- for Buffistas who want to come to LA to meet and celebrate ita's life. I know Polgara said she can't imagine coordinating anything else right now, and I'm happy to take it on if it would help. Not a F2F with all the requisite silliness and debauchery, but a weekend for people to gather to share stories and maybe light some candles on the beach. That might give people who want to come but can't swing travel on short notice a chance to plan and save.
Anyway, I wanted to throw that idea out there.
