Supernatural 3: Family don't end with blood

[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

Because books.

I didn't think Berens was being giggly/snide with Cas's reveal, either, but I do wonder how he thought fans weren't going to go apeshit because he died moments later. That said, it was okayish with me (and mostly could have been written tighter), and I'm not entirely certain he meant romantic love for Dean. I think, personally, it was something bigger than that.

As for 15.19, I think that *was* the plot finale, Cindy. I mean, going on from there to write one more hour of story? It doesn't make any sense. There was a montage, and the clips of characters past, and then they drove away. If they *do* write plot for next week, it better be fucking outrageously good to outdo that.

I *think* next week is going to be two hours of clips and interviews and general celebration, but that's just my feeling. I wasn't prepared for it to end last night, but once the montage music started and the clips started showing, I really felt like that was the end.

And it was ... anticlimactic. But that's okay! Because I do like the idea that now they're free. As for Jack resetting the world / bringing folks back to life, my guess is we're not supposed to think too hard about it.

I miss ita.

Because books.

And I was completely wrong! [link]

It says that the clips/interviews will be the FIRST hour, before "the final episode that will leave you breathless." Okay then!

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Haven't seen the ep yet. Yeah, I'm dragging my feet. I'll watch it tonight.

What is even happening?

It says that the clips/interviews will be the FIRST hour, before "the final episode that will leave you breathless." Okay then!

Isn't it weird? Why wouldn't you just * end it with them being free? I don't know where you go from there. *

When is it okay to post in this thread without spoiler font? I feel bad Theresa has to do that work-around.

The first few years, SPN was the only thing that brought me out of my Angel depression. Angel’s finale still hurts. But after my series cancellation education all these years, I discovered something that made all the difference. I can CHOOSE my own series finale.

I completely agree with this. And in one season 5.22, "Swan Song" was my series finale. Since then, I've ignored the show for episodes at a time (even a season or two at a time), then come back to it. Even with "Swan Song," my head canon is that Sam and Dean (not Adam) jumped into Hell, to save our world from Lucifer and Michael's battle.

I think they could have also ended it after whatever season Sam did all the trials, in order to shut the gates of Hell, but actually had him go through with it.

I think Supernatural has probably been at least three distinct TV shows for me, but other than "Swan Song" I'm not sure where I'd draw the dividing lines.

That said, it was okayish with me (and mostly could have been written tighter), and I'm not entirely certain he meant romantic love for Dean. I think, personally, it was something bigger than that.

I feel a bunch of different ways about this.

Way 1: Representation matters, and so in one way, I like to think of it as Castiel being in love with Dean.

Way 2: Castiel is an angel. His love is going to be different than human love. I feel like romantic love is part of what they meant though, because Cas said he could never have what he wants.

Way 3: Cas had deep love for another angel whose name I can't remember. She was in female form after the angels fell, then she felt bad for her host's family, so she set her host free, I think (or set her free to die so her loved ones can have closure -- I can't keep it straight). I think later that angel took on male form. And I'm not sure where I'm going with this, except I think it ties into what Beverly referenced with the "top of the love pyramid" comment.

Basically, I think there are a bunch of ways, but I can't make my brain function enough to explain them right now.

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

“ I feel bad Theresa has to do that work-around?

It was a trifling thing. It felt good to problem solve and have a Buffista ride to my rescue with the solution. Brought on the feels. It’s nice to talk TV with you again.

I think Supernatural has probably been at least three distinct TV shows.“

At least three for me. The first one ended somewhere in the third season because when Cas appeared In four, all Angel of the lord, it was already a different show. I love Misha, don’t get me wrong, but he wasn’t part of John, John’s journal and boys. Cas started a fun new show, but I felt the loss. These characters certainly didn’t follow the example of Gunsmoke and remain the same characters.

Castiel is an angel. His love is going to be different than human love.

So much yes. Remember when Castiel’s first Angel buddy was trying to understand Cas’ fascination with humans In season four? They talked about them with a certain amount of condescension. IIRC, the other Angel didn’t even like humans. Was it Uriel? So long ago. Anyway, Cas was definitely team human and always had a preference for Dean over Sam. Now whether it went beyond that of a favorite pet, i don’t know. I think there was an acknowledgement of that complexity when Cas told Dean that Dean was the best of the humans. However, I think for Cas to achieve perfect happiness by proclaiming love for Dean, there were implications.

It’s trite to say I missed you guys, but I did.

Edited because I didn’t remember html tags.

Edited again because Cindy is still awesome.

Theresa, if you put a > at the beginning of a new line, then paste the copied text next to it, it will make it into a blockquote, like so:

It’s trite to say I missed you guys, but I did.

If there's a paragraph break in the text you're quoting, start each section with a >.

I think Cas got past the angel supremacy when he joined Team Free Will. I definitely think it went beyond favorite pet. As you say, there were implications to the results of Castiel's declaration of love.

I dropped in, because the mayor of Lawrence, Kansas read a proclamation yesterday (during her last full meeting as mayor) declaring the Lawrence the hometown of Sam and Dean Winchester.

The mayor is adorable. She feels like a Buffista, and that proclamation was most certainly written by a fan. You can watch the video (cued up to the right part) on Twitter: [link]

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

Thank you!

I dropped in, because the mayor of Lawrence, Kansas read a proclamation yesterday (during her last full meeting as mayor) declaring the Lawrence the hometown of Sam and Dean Winchester.
That hurt my heart in a good way. I’ve spent many years in that town. Four of them driving a ‘72 impala in the 1980s. I’ve never met a more deserving town.

I read somewhere that Jensen made sure he got one of the driving Babys. That makes me happy.

Did you all see the zoom call Misha arranged with Jared, Jensen, and Corey Booker to talk about voting and Corey says “Screw you Misha, I have questions “ and steers the conversation back to SPN? Awesomesauce. It’s still up on YouTube.

Both Jensen and Jared got one of the Impalas, but Jensen got the "hero car," which I take it is the best one. [link]

I didn't watch the call with Cory, but I think I saw snippets at the time. I love him.

I can't believe we're finally here at the finale. I also can't imagine what they're going to do in tonight's hour, given what we got last week. I'd say it's making me uneasy, but I'm already so uneasy about everything, who can say?

Because books.

Hello! In my heart I will be holding hands with all of you this evening.

Okay, ladies, stop that now, because I can't start crying this early. And I definitely have to find that video. Thank god I have tomorrow off, because I can see a true deep dive into all the media around the show's ending.

Also, Theresa, it's so good to see you here! And it's always good to see Cindy.

One of the hardest things tonight is going to be missing ita so fucking much.

Oh Amy, I'm so sorry. ita really is the hole in our little Buffista world.
