Hey, I've been in a firefight before! Well, I was in a fire. Actually, I was fired from a fry-cook opportunity. I can handle myself.

brillig

And yet, in Britain (and Australia) it's quite a mild swear word

Well, she was a Mormon in Utah. A different level of swear-acceptance, I imagine, than your standard Brit or Aussie.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I do want to try it (Din Tai Fung that is). I've never been.

Burrell, you should come over some time. The one they opened in Glendale is spendier, but less crowded and still filled with yum.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Ah...I think I've heard that before, but forgot it.

I am a fan of "witenbof" which is short for "what in the entire box of fucks." For when WTF is not WTF-y enough.

LOVE. I'm going to have to remember that one. Although I do like WTFF a lot - what the fucking fuck.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I love the idea of soup dumplings. I've only had them once, but they were delightful. One of these days I will try making them myself - the secret is apparently well-gelatinized broth, which I can certainly do. Something to look forward to when I abandon the low carb diet.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I've reached the point in the day where I've lost all motivation to do anything but flip tables, so I'm filling out paperwork to get a flu shot tomorrow.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

The ID badges at my workplace are called PIV badges. Still makes me amused to see that acronym.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

The ID badges at my workplace are called PIV badges.

Oh, noooo.

I love witenbof. I need to remember it for days like today. My husband's great-aunt died, and yesterday his mother, who is approaching the end of her treatment for breast cancer, told us she has to have a hysterectomy because of a 50/50 shot of uterine cancer.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh no, Dana! My best to your husband and his family.

The ID badges at my workplace are called PIV badges.

Holy crap.

I have never heard of "the DRC" meaning Detroit Rock City

I'm sure my friends and I just made it up. I mean, not that Detroit Rock City isn't a thing, but no one calls it the DRC! (It's just too hard to spell deh-twah, the other thing I call it....)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

"witenbof" which is short for "what in the entire box of fucks."
