And I wonder, what possible catastrophe came crashing down from heaven and brought this dashing stranger to tears?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

The ID badges at my workplace are called PIV badges.

Oh, noooo.

I love witenbof. I need to remember it for days like today. My husband's great-aunt died, and yesterday his mother, who is approaching the end of her treatment for breast cancer, told us she has to have a hysterectomy because of a 50/50 shot of uterine cancer.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh no, Dana! My best to your husband and his family.

The ID badges at my workplace are called PIV badges.

Holy crap.

I have never heard of "the DRC" meaning Detroit Rock City

I'm sure my friends and I just made it up. I mean, not that Detroit Rock City isn't a thing, but no one calls it the DRC! (It's just too hard to spell deh-twah, the other thing I call it....)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

"witenbof" which is short for "what in the entire box of fucks."

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Well, she was a Mormon in Utah. A different level of swear-acceptance, I imagine, than your standard Brit or Aussie.

It was Mormons with whom I had my infamous run-in of buggery, so to speak. Oh, as memorialised here: WindSparrow "Coffee On My Monitor Again" Dec 15, 2010 9:50:42 pm PST

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, man, Dana, that is a lot. Good thoughts to the family.

The Apples in Honey Custard were a hit, although my one cube neighbor guessed that it was some kind of savory cheese tart with garlic stuck into it, which of course now I have to try to concoct because that sounds pretty delicious. Not NOW now, sometime after now.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Yummy choices! Although apologies to meara, as I am likely to make it to Glendale far sooner than I am to Seattle. Mmmm... dumplings...

So my possible Ginormous Work Headache is that my desktop hard drive is dying and it appears that the files on it were not migrated over to the new university-run servers even though I followed their directions. So I may or may not have lost 10+ years of data. Ta da!

I'm trying to quell my panic by reminding myself that lots of the materials are on my personal computer and hard copies of almost everything is filed away somewhere. Rec letters will need to be written from the top, but oh well.

Oh, no, Burrell! Like you need that.

Perhaps I should disclaim that I do not know anything about Din Tai Fung per se, but I am so very pro dumpling in general that I feel comfortable endorsing just about any plan that includes eating more dumplings.
