I wish we had pneumatic tubes to get stuff from campus to campus at work. Of course, people would find ways to subvert the system from its intended purpose. And this would be GLORIOUS.

And I'm amused that hospitals still use pneumatic tubes.

No, that's my point: I think many, if not most, still do, because the pneumatic tube system is so kickass that it couldn't be improved on.

A good sign for the day: I missed my regular 8:10 bus, and was afraid they had actually eliminated the 8:20, since usually I end up waiting until 8:30, but no! Today it came!

I also know an infectious diseases guy who's been working with Ebola patients at Emory/CDC (flea knows him too), and he was the go-to sensible person on the news during the first wave of "ZOMG THEY'RE LETTING THE PLAGUE-CARRIERS INTO THE COUNTRY"; it was both awesome and strange to keep seeing "next on CNN, we have Dr. V in the studio talking about how you're not actually all going to die, at least not today and from this..." and of course now I'm wondering if it's the same dude.

Connie, suggestion for the reward of faux-son: make him a scarf or other male-appropriate garment with the yarn you buy. Something that will give him the literal warm fuzzies, because he deserves them.

I love pneumatic tubes. I wish I could put myself in the tube to go over to the hospital, instead of walking through a tunnel. Also, when my mom worked at a department store in the late 50's they didn't have cash registers. They wrote up your sale and sent it through pneumatic tubes to the cash office, who recorded the sale and gave change!

I need to hire a student assistant who does not have a goldfish memory. But they all do. I am just so sick of reminding them to pick up the mail. Why can't they remember? I think maybe one student in 12 years remembered consistently. They also have trouble checking their own box for work I have put there!
