Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I love pneumatic tubes. I wish I could put myself in the tube to go over to the hospital, instead of walking through a tunnel. Also, when my mom worked at a department store in the late 50's they didn't have cash registers. They wrote up your sale and sent it through pneumatic tubes to the cash office, who recorded the sale and gave change!

I need to hire a student assistant who does not have a goldfish memory. But they all do. I am just so sick of reminding them to pick up the mail. Why can't they remember? I think maybe one student in 12 years remembered consistently. They also have trouble checking their own box for work I have put there!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Weird ass (and sad) news of the day. A woman was killed yesterday in the South Loop by a stone gargoyle falling from a church.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

of course now I'm wondering if it's the same dude.

My author? Is a lady, so doubtful. But I wouldn't be surprised if they work together.

The editorial was REALLY interesting, talking about things like (and I'm paraphrasing), "Look, in these African countries, doctors are working in areas that DON'T HAVE RUNNING WATER. They have dirt floors. They've run out of gloves, for Christ's sake. There is a pervasive culture that literally doesn't understand germ theory, so even if family members had the supplies to protect themselves when caring for a loved one with Ebola, they don't have a frame of reference for how transmission occurs. THIS IS NOT THE CASE IN AMERICA."

That really is sad, don't get me wrong, but...did anyone else just flash to "A Fish Called Wanda"?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I expect they do. Pretty amazing team they have down there.

did anyone else just flash to "A Fish Called Wanda"?

Oh, yes.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Of course a couple of my coworkers are headed to Liberia...

There's an app for that, Jesse... seriously. It will tell you where the bus is, approximately. Wonders of modern technology and all that.

It doesn't so much work at the first stop of the route, is the problem.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Taken out by a gargoyle?!

I worked at an office in Boston in the 80s that still used pneumatic tubes for delivering memos. **FWOOMP** **clatter** and there would be the cannister in your in-basket.

The cylinders had little number indicators so you could direct it to its next place. I guess it went down to the basement and then they put it into the proper tube going back.

information libertarian

My workplace used pneumatic tubes until 2007. Now we send emails for that purpose, which is so much less cool. We still have about 10,000 of the little pre-printed slips that used to be sent in the tubes.

brillig

Connie, suggestion for the reward of faux-son: make him a scarf or other male-appropriate garment with the yarn you buy. Something that will give him the literal warm fuzzies, because he deserves them.

I asked him his favorite colors a couple of weeks ago for that very purpose. Now I need to empty a loom to work with--or buy another loom! Gasp!

The app we have in Rochester only gives you the pre-programmed schedule, not any info if the bus is running late. Which is really not that helpful!
