BTW, my dad made it through surgery well. The dr, was really pleased, and though he was cranky this afternoon, the anesthetic hasn't made him confused or disoriented. Thanks for all the ~ma.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Oh no, Lauren Bacall dead at 89.

Seconding your oh no! She was one of my favorites. I was lucky to see her perform in a play in Boston a while back.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Bacall was my favorite actress. I know 89 is a good, long life, but it still feels like it was too short.

I'm sad that she wasn't offered more film roles later in her life. I know she said many times she wanted to work but the offers were not rolling in, even after The Mirror Has Two Faces.

Only one shopvac bucket! Second highest rainfall in a day so far.

But the ground wasn't already soaked, so unsurprising. Though I feel bad for those in the long term lots at the airport. Flooded up to headlights in places. Not parking there ever again...

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, so I told him so, and now he's mad.

But did you tell him we all agreed?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

That Dore is incredibly beautiful.

I have nothing to say. I am empty of thoughts. I've spent most of the day on the phone with three companies, trying to fix the problems their incompetence has caused. Problems all solved, but now I'm worn out.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

What's a no-frat policy?

Though I feel bad for those in the long term lots at the airport. Flooded up to headlights in places.

Holy shit, what a mess.

flea, do you think anyone else (besides mr. flea) is expecting all of you to go? Has he told other people that you all will be there, or are his other colleagues all bringing their families? I do agree that there's no particular reason for you and the kids to go, esp. since you already have plans for that day, but I wonder if he might think that, for some reason, it will be embarrassing for him to go without you.
