"What -- BOTH of you would move?!"
But--that doesn't fit in with her grand plan to drag D back into her clutches!

Is she *just* malicious, or also a huge dipshit? Because I'm sensing the latter.
It's totally a big thing you are doing, Strix, and feeling anxious, terrified, etc. is totally natural. Let yourself have those feelings, it's okay. Glad you have the therapist to go to!
"What -- BOTH of you would move?!"
HAHAHAHA people are so weird.
"What -- BOTH of you would move?!"
I was going to post something earlier about how much I admired your unselfish choices in this, Strix (but I couldn't get the words right). I guess some of us admire people who put the needs of their loved ones before their own. And others are just bewildered by people who make unselfish choices. Geez Louise.
Sending inteview~ma and job~ma your way, ita!
"What -- BOTH of you would move?!"
Ugh. She sounds like a nightmare, self-absorbed to the point of solipsism. I recommend for your own peace of mind to not give her any space to set up shop inside your head. Because you're right, she can't even imagine what it would be like to be someone else and make other choices for her husband and her son.
Also, I would reinforce what Steph said. You just need to get through this for now.

I know I'm not objective on this, but summoning (truly) all my objectivity -- both.
And, guys -- thanks. I'm trying all I can to make this easier, and you guys are really being the best help.
Thanks for the ~ma! That went well! I had specific experience relevant to the job (which I now understand although I still have no idea how they got my resume), and I got a lot of "Exactly!" out of her.
So I think I did my best--the key is no one doing better...
Strix, she leaves me wordless, honestly. Isn't moving with your spouse the default?
Wait, new boss?? When did that happen?
The very end of June/beginning of July. Wait, I don't know if I talked about it around here! The very short form is that a high-up manager (almost VP) of a project I worked on at Microsoft contacted me. The project had gone through a bunch of changes, was a separate product, and owned by a different company now. And hey, he needed a good tech writer/editor who would rule the content process with an iron fist in a lace glove, because their current writer was leaving in two weeks, and what was I up to nowadays.
Five days later, I had a job offer. There's no Seattle office yet, so I'm working from home, which is FANTASTIC.
"What -- BOTH of you would move?!"
Oh my.

Excellent!
And yay, Jilli!
