I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I think what you need, Sail, is a Librarian.

It is too hot to do anything. Too hot to sit on the couch. Too hot to lie in bed. Too hot to be outside. maybe I will try a tepid bath, though my tub be uncomfortable, yea it may be cool.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Years ago, lightning hit somewhere near my house and the surge took out a weird variety of things: television, dryer, phones, computer modem, alarm clock, toaster. Thinking about it, I realized it was everything that was drawing power at the time. The washer was off; the dryer was on. The toaster had entirely unnecessary digital settings. In the one and only time I've lucked out this way, the computer had two weeks' warranty left.

It took me a while to figure out it was lightning. It was so loud that my first thought was that a car had hit the house.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I have plans for the rest of the week. Tomorrow, getting stuff organized and cleaned in my apartment, making some calls about movers, calling several of my doctors, doing laundry, and possibly working on some more Javascript stuff. Wednesday, going to campus and cleaning out my office, and taking care of paperwork there. I'm not sure how much of this I'll actually accomplish.

Maybe get yourself some string and breadcrumbs.

I'm considering it! Or a GPS, if it worked in just the building the way it does with roads.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Or a GPS, if it worked in just the building the way it does with roads.

"In 30 feet, turn left at Bob's office."

"In 10 feet, continue past the vending machine."

"You have passed Bob's office. Re-calculating..."

"In 8 feet, make a U-turn at the dangling ceiling tile."

Steph, that needs to exist as a sketch on something like Funny or Die.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

we've had a scary lightning surge recently which fried our TV, desktop computer, modem, router, dishwasher, and exploded several lightbulbs on one circuit and disabling all the other lightbulbs that were on, on other circuits. That sucked.

The rain today and in other parts of the country are what cancelled my flight home, unfortunately. Wah. Hope to get out tomorrow morning.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I've never lost electronics to lightning. Once I was driving at night and lightning struck some power lines and the highway pavement 50 feet in front of me. There were all these cool sparks where the lightning hit. It took my eyes about two or three seconds to recover from the blinding light; during that time I drove from memory.
