Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
This is some bullshit on a friend's comment on fb - "I've been shot at performing my job duties, have you? Those who haven't, ESPECIALLY in today's uber-charged society, have zero valid input, IMHO. Again I say, sit the fuck down, shut the fuck up when the Police tell you to. Race, gender, and attire be damned."
please don't look for it and jump in, the poster is an ass who went to my hs. he is in law enforcement. he was a bully asshole entitled piece of crap at 18 and I don't think he has changed much. just enrage - making.
of course I could not keep my mouth shut - my response - "So unless we have been shot at during our job, in YOUR "humble" opinion, we have zero valid input on any police situation. seems valid. please to never speak about anything about women, ever."
My Monday zigged and zagged. The majority of the work day was spent fighting with the crap loaner laptop (day 10 of this). In talking to one on my PMS about shifting deliverable around as a result of this mess. He gave,me the go ahead to puchase an external hard drive so I can access all my files without having to connect to the server (something that makes the loaner freak out).
Then I talked with my boss about the mess and he mentioned he had just approved a Reward and Recognition request for me. These typically run around $50, which yay! He sent me the certificate which said who nominated me and why - very blush worthy - and how much - $300!!! I'm still in shock. It will take a paycheck or two before I get it but I don't care. I was just doing my job.
Rebecca...good call. What a jerk.
Shit, how many
cops
have been shot at in the course of their jobs? Ugh, don't get me started.
Grootling looks very healthy, dcp--time to pot him/her, or s/he'll be dismantling your deckboards with his/her roots!
Lips v. firmly sealed toward msbelle's fb commenter. Not making a thang in someone else's fb.
yeah, he's not a cop, he's a Firefighter/EMT either in the Army or Army adjacent. unclear and I will not engage for clarification.
This is the same ass who posted something similar about how he had more valid (racist/xenophobic) opinions and feelings after 9/11 because his comrades and 1st responder brothers were dead and dying for doing their jobs and being heroes. I think then I posted something about stepping away from the conversation because I could still smell my city burning days after the attack, but ya know, please keep sharing how it is affecting you more, you know down in Texas.
I didn't quite go full ScarJo, but I left A LOT of hair on the salon floor today. I'm pleased with the result.
Now we wait to see if hockey will go my way.
They totally do have a tough job, and I do respect that(And I virtually know, at least, some cop-hating liberals) but it's because what they do is so important that we should all be invested in it as citizens. He doesn't want to hear all of my David Simon quotes, does he? Dude, be nice to Ms. Belle because it could be worse, right?
Pain-free-soon~ma for Drew.
Pics or it didn't happen, shrift.
I lost a modem and a telephone to lightning years ago; now I have surge suppressors.
I Mondayed like a boss, today. Started the new job, met with tons of people, already developing plans on how to organize my boss' calendar, possibly developing some consolidated information docs (they have a bazillion different conference rooms, all reserved with different systems and no overarching document that pulls all that info together.) Only problem is, I'm in a temporary cube until they build me a new one closer to my boss. No idea if I'll keep the phone number currently assigned to me. And, I think I must have walked 10 miles around the hospital trying to get there from here, which in many cases wasn't possible. I've got four maps just to get me around the two towers that WIMR's in, along with the maps to get to the radiology department in the hospital. It took me 15 minutes to get
out
of the building because of where the entrance to the towers is and where I was parked on the other side of the building. Geezus fuck, that's the worst building layout I've ever seen. It may make sense in a clinical setting, but for us office drones who have to navigate the entire place and not just one "module", it's the fucking labyrinth and I better get a cookie if I ever find the minotaur.
I hope you feel better soon, Drew!
In the mid-60s, my sister was on the phone at our grandparents' farm, and lightning struck. The phone blew up. No one was hurt. Still, Sis has been terrified of thunderstorms ever since. While Dad understood, he didn't want me to be scared, too. So when storms would roll in, he'd take me down to the harbor, and we'd watch them do their thing over the lake. Sometimes I'd get ice cream, too. I love storms!
