Because books.

Steph, that needs to exist as a sketch on something like Funny or Die.

This.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

we've had a scary lightning surge recently which fried our TV, desktop computer, modem, router, dishwasher, and exploded several lightbulbs on one circuit and disabling all the other lightbulbs that were on, on other circuits. That sucked.

The rain today and in other parts of the country are what cancelled my flight home, unfortunately. Wah. Hope to get out tomorrow morning.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I've never lost electronics to lightning. Once I was driving at night and lightning struck some power lines and the highway pavement 50 feet in front of me. There were all these cool sparks where the lightning hit. It took my eyes about two or three seconds to recover from the blinding light; during that time I drove from memory.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

"In 8 feet, make a U-turn at the dangling ceiling tile."

Oh, no. We'd get things like:

"Turn left at the Pajama Llama."

"Circle to the left around the cafeteria--no wait, to the right if you want to use the ATM machine."

"Just past the blue and white cow bench is the main entrance to the cafeteria."

Yeah, one wing of the hospital is the American Family Children's Hospital. It makes for some interesting decor in places.

Fun! Children's Hospital in Philly is like that, too -- all different colors and themes.

I finally have use of my laptop again, and a plumbing tube of flexible clear plastic to keep my idiot cats from chewing on the new power cord. Hopefully they won't find something more vital or expensive to destroy next.

Our wings are not tired.

My worst losses to lightning were years apart and very similar. Lime trees. One in the back yard that produced these super large mild limes and then a dozen years later a standard lime in the front yard. Note that lime trees are lightning rods.

edit to change lime production to past tense, sniff

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

a plumbing tube of flexible clear plastic to keep my idiot cats from chewing on the new power cord

Clever idea!

Yeah, it does.

My company's headquarters is three connected buildings, two of which are squares with central courtyards, so there are a lot of turns to get anywhere. New people get lost a lot. GPS would be helpful. Directions to my department include "turn left at Marconi" referring to a bust at a three-way hallway junction.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Monday:
It's really hot here,
I tried to go to Target on the way home, and the power was out.
The pile of laundry I didn't put away over the weekend didn't get done by the magic elves

Not Monday: I got a $25 Amazon gift card as part of a going the extra mile award.

Oh, we've been shot at in our work, so I guess we can have an opinion! Well, aimed at. And my sister's been shot at! So yay for us!
