Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Shit, how many cops have been shot at in the course of their jobs? Ugh, don't get me started.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Grootling looks very healthy, dcp--time to pot him/her, or s/he'll be dismantling your deckboards with his/her roots!

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

yeah, he's not a cop, he's a Firefighter/EMT either in the Army or Army adjacent. unclear and I will not engage for clarification.

This is the same ass who posted something similar about how he had more valid (racist/xenophobic) opinions and feelings after 9/11 because his comrades and 1st responder brothers were dead and dying for doing their jobs and being heroes. I think then I posted something about stepping away from the conversation because I could still smell my city burning days after the attack, but ya know, please keep sharing how it is affecting you more, you know down in Texas.

I didn't quite go full ScarJo, but I left A LOT of hair on the salon floor today. I'm pleased with the result.

Now we wait to see if hockey will go my way.

Always Anti-fascist!

They totally do have a tough job, and I do respect that(And I virtually know, at least, some cop-hating liberals) but it's because what they do is so important that we should all be invested in it as citizens. He doesn't want to hear all of my David Simon quotes, does he? Dude, be nice to Ms. Belle because it could be worse, right?

Pain-free-soon~ma for Drew.

I lost a modem and a telephone to lightning years ago; now I have surge suppressors.

I Mondayed like a boss, today. Started the new job, met with tons of people, already developing plans on how to organize my boss' calendar, possibly developing some consolidated information docs (they have a bazillion different conference rooms, all reserved with different systems and no overarching document that pulls all that info together.) Only problem is, I'm in a temporary cube until they build me a new one closer to my boss. No idea if I'll keep the phone number currently assigned to me. And, I think I must have walked 10 miles around the hospital trying to get there from here, which in many cases wasn't possible. I've got four maps just to get me around the two towers that WIMR's in, along with the maps to get to the radiology department in the hospital. It took me 15 minutes to get out of the building because of where the entrance to the towers is and where I was parked on the other side of the building. Geezus fuck, that's the worst building layout I've ever seen. It may make sense in a clinical setting, but for us office drones who have to navigate the entire place and not just one "module", it's the fucking labyrinth and I better get a cookie if I ever find the minotaur.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I hope you feel better soon, Drew!

In the mid-60s, my sister was on the phone at our grandparents' farm, and lightning struck. The phone blew up. No one was hurt. Still, Sis has been terrified of thunderstorms ever since. While Dad understood, he didn't want me to be scared, too. So when storms would roll in, he'd take me down to the harbor, and we'd watch them do their thing over the lake. Sometimes I'd get ice cream, too. I love storms!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I think what you need, Sail, is a Librarian.

It is too hot to do anything. Too hot to sit on the couch. Too hot to lie in bed. Too hot to be outside. maybe I will try a tepid bath, though my tub be uncomfortable, yea it may be cool.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Years ago, lightning hit somewhere near my house and the surge took out a weird variety of things: television, dryer, phones, computer modem, alarm clock, toaster. Thinking about it, I realized it was everything that was drawing power at the time. The washer was off; the dryer was on. The toaster had entirely unnecessary digital settings. In the one and only time I've lucked out this way, the computer had two weeks' warranty left.

It took me a while to figure out it was lightning. It was so loud that my first thought was that a car had hit the house.
