I am definitely better for having got some food in me. Have the dishwasher going, and the washing machine, and three more loads sorted and ready to go in. Need to make some breakfasts for the week, and if I can manage it lunches as well.
Really want to just keep reading, though.
-t what do you make ahead for breakfasts?
I have shaken out the cat beds, removed the large clumps of hair and they are now in the dryer for air fluff de-hairing before being washed.
Books are up on the book shelf I move. This is a TBR shelf. everything on it is TBR. one double stacked non-fiction shelf and 2 partially double stacked fiction shelves. 70!! TBR fiction books. and I was thinking of getting something from the library. nope. no way. I don;t read much at the moment, online and tv is taking all my attention, but I should really start in on something. Especially since I rarely want to keep books once they are read. Reading through these would probably aid in the de-cluttering.
Today I plan to make a coconut cream custard that is supposed to be a paleo answer to oatmeal and some apple and pork sausage patties that I can break an egg on top of and microwave for a hot breakfast. Salads for lunches and maybe a frittata because I have zucchini.
Thanks, -t and Burrell.
Yay, Suzi, CRAP, Jess, and good luck, Rebecca!
I am beyond frustrated with myself. I need a reboot. I need to do something I've never done before, or not in a very long time. Don't know what. Hard to break out of the rut when you actually like your life.
Opinions needed: I've apparently been clenching my jaw when I sleep (and when awake, though not as much), and so my jaw just ACHES. Should I throw a muscle relaxant at it, or Ativan?
I need to do something I've never done before, or not in a very long time.
Which is why I'm going to Vegas in July, to meet up with Elena who used to be on the board.
Clarification: I need to do something that doesn't cost more than about 20 bucks.
I would like to hear more about the oatmeal-esque custard, -t!
Teppy, jaw clenching is a side effect of some anti-depressants, just FYI, don't remember if you're on one right now. Sadly I have no recs--I bite the insides of my cheeks in my sleep, it can hurt in the morning!
Yeah, I sometimes clench my teeth and bite my cheeks/tongue in my sleep. I don't know if it's a side effect of something or just stress. Wearing the Invisalign retainers has curbed that, nice bonus to teeth straightening, but a Valium also works on nights when I don't wear them.
I just made the custard so it is fresh in my mind! Simmer a can of TJ's coconut cream for a few minutes with a teaspoon of vanilla extract and half a cup of water. Crack two eggs into a bowl and whisk. Add a couple of tablespoons of the hot cream to the eggs while whisking to temper the eggs (I keep adding cream a tablespoon at a time until the little bowl is almost filled because I don't completely understand tempering and figure more won't hurt), then return the cream-egg mixture to the pot. Simmer another 5-10 minutes, stirring some, until you can draw a line with your finger on a spoon coated with the cream and it stays clear. Add a sliced up banana and blend with an immersion blender (or pour into a blender, as you prefer), add a quarter cup of chia seeds, a teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch of salt and blend some more. Pour into 4 or 5 jars (usually I make 4 servings, today exactly the same recipe made 5, I don't know why or how) and let set up in the fridge over night. Eat with spoon. Sprinkle with nuts if you like that sort of thing.
I don't really know about the jaw clenching, Tep, but I would guess a muscle relaxant might be best for immediate relief or a hot compress/heatig pad like might help any sore muscle. That's the sort of thing people wear mouthguards to prevent, maybe try an OTC one of those?
You could go to a roller rink, Zen. Or ride a roller coaster. Do one of those drink-wine-and-paint classes I see on Groupon.
