Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'd seen the week thing before, but it still amazes me.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

My favorite part of that argument was this:

Can you lend me $800? I'll pay you back $100 every other day for 2 weeks. Sound cool?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I do not have a home warranty. But one of the reasons I bought my house is because it was only 7 years old, so I figured maintenance would be minimal (old enough to get the kinks out, young enough to not fall apart yet).

Same here. Mine was built in 1998. I'll need a new water heater in a few months, I expect, and a new roof in a couple years, but overall the place is sound. In this case, I'd rather pay for what I need as I need it. But if I had an old house, with the surprises that always come with, I definitely would get a home warranty.

Hey. New board.

I have an old house with lots of surprises a d we still skipped out on the home warranty. Too many bad stories of them insisting on crappy service organizations or failing to follow through. Probably a good idea to resear h and get a good one but I prefer the control of pay as you go.

The dinner was amazing.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Gris, I'm glad your splurge was such a delight.

One of the rotten parts of working the shifts I work is that I'm accustomed to getting to bed around 2am. So when there is a staff meeting or some other reason to get up early and I try to go to bed before midnight, I end up waking up in the small hours of the night, and can't get back to sleep until 5ish. Staff meeting this morning at 8. Which is not too horrible, at least I can duck out early because I went to another staff meeting at a different house last week which will cover some of the same topics (and yes, I already asked bosslady to cover those at the end).

I got word yesterday that a lady who had lived at a house I used to work at, but eventually got transfered to a nursing home due to increasing medical needs as she aged, has passed away. Her funeral is this morning. I'll probably be able to make it, the timing should work. I may not go, though. I'm so tired right now, but just can't sleep.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Suzi, I've been meaning to congratulations on the new house!

I've never had a home warranty, except the first year I owned the condo because it came as part of the deal when I purchased, but it was only good for the first year. The only thing that's gone bad in the past couple of years is my garbage disposal went out at a time I was scrapped for cash. I just don't use that side of the sink, until I get a chance to replace it, which I plan to do this year. My question for folks who have them--do they cover appliances? I don't need to worry about roof or water heater as they're covered by the condo association fees.

City smells like a portapotty. Uhg.

8:30 meeting. Uhg.

Appliances are covered in mine (things like fridge and stove and non-existent dishwasher, but not tabletop micro.)

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I've used home warranty at least three times this year. The nice thing about it is having a consolidated place that will find a repair person for you, but of course it's going to be not the best repair person.-- Best for minor issues.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Checked off my first to-do item of the day: Filled out my bracket. So that's something! Not something actually work related, but still.

hip deep in pie

I am "working from home". Our CIO sent out an email to our bosses basically saying she didn't know how people were supposed to get to work if the busses weren't running and streets weren't plowed, so to be compassionate and let them work from home if they can. All I will say about my workplace is that is a refreshing change from the usual message.

Mostly working from home has meant being in a email thread with coworkers trying to track down my boss and negotiating switching reference desk shifts.
