It's on him for sure, but I've been there and she will make all these fattening, calorie-filled dishes every night. She won't stop buying cookies and candy either "for guests."
Yeah, I feel like in a situation where one person cooks for the family and a family member has dietary restrictions, the designated cook should accommodate. It's just basic courtesy.
If meals were entirely up to my preferences, there would be a lot more meat. But I married a vegetarian, and that's not even a medically necessary dietary restriction. It's just compromise, because that's how it works. (I don't think this makes me worthy of a cookie, to be clear. I assumed that's how marriage/long-term relationships work.)
Jesse, chemo~ma for your ma.
Kat, have a safe journey.
Any idea what she should expect to feel like?
Without knowing the chemo, it's hard to tell. A few general tips: She should drink plenty of water before the infusion and an antihistamine could help. She should ask if nausea is a possibility and, if so, she should get an antinausea prescription and fill it. Then she should take it for two or three days. It's a mistake to wait and see if a drug causes nausea. Generally, most people feel fine the day of chemo, and start feeling it the day after. It's a good idea to have something like Ensure on hand to make sure she gets enough nutrition if she doesn't feel like eating.
Jesse - hope it goes well with little side effects.
Aaand my stylist's shop owner will be cutting my hair this weekend because A's lost someone close to her and service is Saturday so they're rescheduling/reassigning. Which I'm good with, just... She was so fucking awesome when I came in That Week and got me a free massage after me crying in the chair about ita. And now she's dealing with similar. Imma going to call them again tomorrow to ask if they're doing anything. New receptionist, vague details, I'd rather ask someone who knows what she'd be comfortable telling me. She's cut my hair for 15 years, she still asks about N&G, I've giggled with her daughter on my lap. I've followed her from hair cuttery through 2 salons, marriage, daughter, divorce, 2 houses. Not besties, but I want the best for her.
Trying to cut back on meat for the planet. I do really well, then get tempted by straight-up garbage(it's fun at the time.)
Trying to cut back on meat for the planet.
I eat less meat by default, because I'm too lazy to cook 2 meals. Although I do have some quick and easy protein I can cook to go with a vegetarian meal (like frozen salmon filets, or grilled chicken). But stuff like chili and shepherd's pie is always made with fake ground beef crumbles. It's pretty dang tasty to me.
That's a thought, Tep. Thanks.
I'm like, living proof that BMI is BS.I have a*decent* diet, you know, but I eat more junk than it looks like I do.(Not to sound like the size 2 model getting all fake-orgasmic over cheeseburgers or anything.)
Hope your mom's treatment is effective with few side effects, Jesse.
Not sure if I mentioned it here, but the deciding factor for the seller choosing our house? A letter. I wrote a letter based on the suggestion of both the loan officer and my realtor. Just about me and what I liked about the house and how I saw my family fitting into it.
Awesome! That's how friends in CO "won" the house they bought in Boulder last year. Is it a Colorado thing?
A judge in my area was mauled by a zebra today (his father keeps it and other exotic animals). I wonder if the cops thought it was St. Patrick's day drunkenness before verifying that an actual zebra was involved?
