delicious is way more important.
It was over 90 degrees today. Had ice cream with burrell instead of pie.
My house smells of cinnamon, rum and butter. I like it.
Oh sarameg, I've been meaning to ask, can I get that rum snickerdoodle recipe? thanks
Note: not baking it tonight because 90 degrees
It's the basic good housekeeping recipe, plus about 1/4 c rum (I'm inexact, I glug it into a well in the dough I estimate to be about that when I'm adding egg and vanilla.) and more after the flour step if I don't taste the rum. Dark rum, fwiw.
Oven at 375.
1/2 c soft/melted butter (they say to blend it on high 30 s, have forgotten, don't see point if melted, which I always end up doing by accident.)
1 c sugar
1/4tsp baking soda
1/4tsp cream of tartar
Fumph of cinnamon (maybe 1/4 -1/2tsp, totally my tweak, I just eyeball a squeeze.)
Blend
Add 1 egg and 1/2tsp vanilla and booze of choice, mix well. Maybe 1/4 c booze!
Add 1 &1/2 c flour, 1/2 c at a time, unless you have a good mixer. Mix well. Chill an hour at least. Harder the dough, puffier the cookie.
You'll be rolling the balls in a 1Tb sugar+1tsp cinnamon (basically, your cinnamon sugar mix.)
I have a cookie scoop, but basically make one inch diameter balls, roll them in the cinnamon sugar and bake on an ungreased sheet or parchment for 11 minutes, until edges are just starting to brown and tops might be cracking. They'll deflate a little in cooling. I've cooled them on the sheets, have pulled them off immediately, not any diff, but I'm in a different climate. Dry now.
Sore and flushed and tired and a little tummy achey but all in all, a fun St. Patty's in the 'hood. Hung out with lots of people I like, got to know others, and ate lots of crawfish.
Glad I got to hang with you and Tom today, Nora.
Taking advantage of the internet at this coffee shop to post. Tea in Newcastle before seeing Hadrian's Wall. Did not bring coal.
Good thing you didn't!
Timelies all!
Ended up getting apple pie a la mode at the concert.(Which was fun and had a wider variety of a capella styles than usual)
