Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Well, this is going to be anti-healthy, but the talk of cranberry juice reminds me that I had a really good cocktail recently: orange vodka, Malibu rum, cranberry juice, and OJ. I could drink a pitcher of that on the porch, I tell you what.
Man, that sounds good.
And a Blizzard. I don't feel guilty about ice cream. I mean, I don't eat buckets of it, but donuts, cookies, pie (well, okay, I eat the filling and leave the crust, if I'm staunch enough to do that), cake, and pastries are right off the menu, so you damn betcha I'm having guilt-free ice cream now and then.
I'm all about the lemon and orange Vitamin Water Zero these days.
What non-sugary drinks to folks have at home? I'm getting tired of water.
Fizzy water with fancy bitters! I have chocolate, grapefruit, cardamom, and lavender bitters. (Oh hey, the fancy bitters, chocolate, and salt store in PDX does mail order! Whooo!)
I do not want a Blizzard, but that's because I have homemade brownies and caramel sauce from the Infamous BlueJay right now.
I'm trying to be more aware of how much sugar I eat, and I prefer dark chocolate anyway, but I'm not ever giving up sugar in my coffee. Nope.
I have no opinion on blizzards as I have not had one, but I hate that concern troll shit. I notice a lot of folks use their FB posts to be generally judgy of other people. Like one woman I know is always posting shit about other people's parenting choices. I don't get it. She's got a great son, why isn't he affirmation enough that she's a good mom? I don't get the need to follow that up with a dose of "the rest of you are fucking it up."
As for sugar, I am trying to cut down my intake on the refined stuff but somehow I haven't cut down on my glass of wine in the evening even though I know that's probably my main source of sugar at this point. I can usually skip dessert unless we are going to the ice cream store.
Tommy, I do the fizzy water thing a lot. I'll dilute juice or just add a splash of bitters.
(Makes note to check Jilli's link)
Oh, non-sugary drink options: in summer DH & I love Japanese barley tea, although that's not an option for gluten-free folk. And there's also La Croix, which is very tasty and refreshing.
(Oh hey, the fancy bitters, chocolate, and salt store in PDX does mail order! Whooo!)
Well, dang. I was just in PDX last week. Putting it on the list for next time (mail order is nice, but I want to *go* there too).
Fizzy water and bitters is now sounding really good; sadly, I have neither just now. But there's ample coffee all over the place, so I should get right on that.
I am all about the La Croix. But only certain flavors! Berry, Cran-Raspberry, Lime, Lemon, and sometimes Orange.
