I have no opinion on blizzards as I have not had one, but I hate that concern troll shit. I notice a lot of folks use their FB posts to be generally judgy of other people. Like one woman I know is always posting shit about other people's parenting choices. I don't get it. She's got a great son, why isn't he affirmation enough that she's a good mom? I don't get the need to follow that up with a dose of "the rest of you are fucking it up."
As for sugar, I am trying to cut down my intake on the refined stuff but somehow I haven't cut down on my glass of wine in the evening even though I know that's probably my main source of sugar at this point. I can usually skip dessert unless we are going to the ice cream store.
Tommy, I do the fizzy water thing a lot. I'll dilute juice or just add a splash of bitters.
(Makes note to check Jilli's link)
Oh, non-sugary drink options: in summer DH & I love Japanese barley tea, although that's not an option for gluten-free folk. And there's also La Croix, which is very tasty and refreshing.
(Oh hey, the fancy bitters, chocolate, and salt store in PDX does mail order! Whooo!)
Well, dang. I was just in PDX last week. Putting it on the list for next time (mail order is nice, but I want to *go* there too).
Fizzy water and bitters is now sounding really good; sadly, I have neither just now. But there's ample coffee all over the place, so I should get right on that.
I am all about the La Croix. But only certain flavors! Berry, Cran-Raspberry, Lime, Lemon, and sometimes Orange.
Yeah, I drink a lot of fizzy water, and occasionally iced tea.
But then I remembered that Cincinnati has a place called Putz' Creamy Whip that I've never been to, and now I'm thinking road trip. Because PUTZ' CREAMY WHIP.
That sounds excellent! ....now I am adding to my desire to go get ice cream later. Which since it's only 10:15AM is a bit early.
I have only tried it once or twice, so haven't explored as many flavors as you have, shrift.
but somehow I haven't cut down on my glass of wine in the evening even though I know that's probably my main source of sugar at this point.
A glass of wine a day is good for you! You should totally enjoy that and not worry about the sugar.
(I am the anti-concern troll. "Why aren't you having a large Blizzard? I'm just worried about your happiness!")
We have La Croix at my office sometimes, so I've been able to explore the flavor ranges a bit without first committing to an 8 or 12 pack.
I'm going to have a chocolate mini-cupcake for dessert.
I would like to point out to the concern troll that when I'm on chemo, sometimes the only thing that appeals to me is something in the milkshake family that can be acquired via a drive-thru.
