It turns out that the phone has been quiet here because the line is totally out, which has made for a much more serene Xmas. Also the oven gave up the ghost, but my ex-chef cousin was able to improvise with some stove-top magic.
Even my attack of the gut miseries was fortuitously timed between opening Xmas presents (yes, most of the participants are nominally Jewish) and big holiday dinner. I took a much-needed nap once the tummy-quieting drugs had kicked in, so I was able to be a happy participant with several small tastes of entries.
Also, just got the news that my eldest nephew has gotten engaged to his long-time girlfriend, so 2015 looks like it could have some festive family time. Best news of the day, yes.
Legoland=always fun.
True fact.
Imitation Game isn't playing here in town so DH and I can't go see it. Pooh.

I am the only person in the entire world at work today.
I am the only person in the entire world at work today.
I might be the only person in Highland Park at work today. Wait, there were people at McDonalds working when I bought my Egg McMuffin.
I am the only person in my entire house at work today. The other person has the next week off.
Here's a new children's book: The Kegel Bear
32-page, full-color, hardcover book. A charmingly funny story about a bear who loves to hug her friends. For moms, it's a subtle reminder to do their Kegel exercises. When the Kegel Bear hugs her friends, everybody squeeze!

Yes, I am at the office today. It was voluntarily since I told everyone else to take the day off. It is nice and quiet. The phone has not rung even once. The idea was to get stuff done, but I have been mostly goofing off. Also, DH is sick and avoiding his germs and bad moodiness seemed a good plan.
I have the dog with me. They are testing the fire alarm system in the building today and a dude came by to give me fair warning. He was concerned about the dog's ears so he turned down the volume on the 2 horns in our office. (I have heard it before and there is no missing that noise) That was really sweet of him to do. He said it will only go off once.
