I am so sad that I remember the hook of a poem I composed in high school. I wish I could remember the whole thing--it was a Michael Jackson/Nik Kershaw blend, with maybe some Robin of Sherwood (that's the UK Michael Praed series, in case I got the name wrong)--it was called "The Hooded Man."
But right now I can quote only SPN and Buffy quotes. And the odd Firefly (sorry Angel!).
"Boys II Men going on, not too hard, not to strong."
Oh, yeah, and lyrics from the golden age of hip hop (don't argue, I'm old, but not OLD old).
Oh, and just as a bonus, IO9 got me to read this story by Bradbury which I'd somehow forgotten to back when I was going through his work: [link]
"Full Fathom five my father lies
His bones they are of coral made
Those are the pearls that were his eyes
And nothing of him doth fade
But he doth suffer a sea change
Into something rich and strange
Sea Nymphs hourly ring his knell
Ding dong, Ding dong, Ding dong Bell
I was a great memorizer - could memorize as much stuff as I wanted, and it would fade when I no longer needed it. But I never memorized that one. It just stuck. And unlike what I deliberately memorized stayed with me.
Little backbrain picking up rhymes and trotting them out to apply, sometimes bizarrely. I've heard that "suffer a sea change into something rich and strange" and never knew it was Shakespeare.
No opinions on the butterscotch chips? Oatsmeal and butterscotch--both Scottish things, right? Add a little single malt to the dough for good measure? What do you think?
Oh, football, what the hell.
That sounds amazing, Beverly.
"Let me lick you up and down until you stay stop."
Ahhhhh! Good one.
I have cupcakes in the oven and am already sad about how late it's going to be before they are frosted.
....and I just went to check on them, and I way overfilled them! I guess they will still be cute, but I have lost my touch!
I've had oatmeal butterscotch cookies and heartily endorse them.
Ahhhhh! Good one.
The only Pandora channel I've remotely enjoyed this much is the "Carry On Wayward Son" which indeed feels like a brief Dean tutorial. I'm getting my second MJ song, and repeatedly it's told me I like "extensive vamping"--what's that?
Also, I'm so East Coast+selected Tupac. Can't beat California Love, IMO, unless it's Montell Jordan. Well, and anything off "Off The Wall". And BBD. Boyz II Men.
New Edition isn't bad, either.
If anyone wants to make their own not-a-ninja-turtle-but-has-kick cookie recipe: [link]
So that didn't work out as well as one would hope. I guess they taste good and look OK, but I just did buttercream frosting and the kitchen was too hot, and bleh. Whatever -- I can't even go to the potluck anyway!
