Jayne: Yeah, that was some pretty risky sittin' you did there. Wash: That's right, of course, 'cause they wouldn't arrest me if we got boarded, I'm just the pilot. I can always say I was flying the ship by accident.

Next Wednesday we are doing a potluck/White Elephant thing at lunch time. I'm bringing cupcakes and will need to hunt up a White Elephant giftie.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

next week we're doing an office potluck afternoon tea. And the week after that we will have a lunch, but I may not go.

Good luck on the job hunt everyone.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Our office party apparently involves bowling. Don't wanna.

Considering the install has slipped yet another week and I uncovered a really bad bug just before I left today, we may not be partaking much of the partying.

I shouldn't have bothered today.

I am so glad to avoid anything like a White Elephant or one of those gift giving things where you can take the present from someone else. Such interpersonal viciousness shows up in those things. And then there were the "talent" shows. Dear goddess.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

My office does a Christmas lunch (which is today). They also do a mid-year dinner, to which spouses and significant others are invited.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

One year when I was at Lotus we had a fancy Xmas party at the Museum of Science, so we could wander through the exhibits and so on, that was really supernice for the non-drinkers/non-partyers. Not really anything has topped that, ever.

I am hoping not to stay too long.

I'm lucky that ours is down the street from my office this year, so I think I'm going to show up for a little while to scope out the food situation, and then leave. The high heels can stay under my desk, though.

Unless I ditch it entirely. I'm not sure I can handle socializing right now, plus I have to do team dinners and outings and events while I'm in NYC next week.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I used to love our department's Selfish Santa (white elephant), but that was back in the day when we were a pretty tight-knit group of people with compatible senses of humor. This year I'm not sure it will be as much fun.
