Our office party apparently involves bowling.
NOPE.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I used to love our department's Selfish Santa (white elephant), but that was back in the day when we were a pretty tight-knit group of people with compatible senses of humor. This year I'm not sure it will be as much fun.
I despise forced cheerfulness and comraderie.
Yeah. My family occasions are enough like photo ops as it is.(although now I'm picturing CJ Cregg facing my evil stepmonster all "Ask your question or move on," which is making me smile.

Ditched so many team outings of this sort, and they were always not on my way home either.
Hey! If I pass my background/drug (oh....) test, I can start on the 11th! So no feting yet, but hopeful noises!
One year when I was at Lotus we had a fancy Xmas party at the Museum of Science, so we could wander through the exhibits and so on, that was really supernice for the non-drinkers/non-partyers.
When I worked at MIT Sloan, we had an Xmas party at MoS one year, and twice at the Boston MFA. It was nice.
