'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

One year when I was at Lotus we had a fancy Xmas party at the Museum of Science, so we could wander through the exhibits and so on, that was really supernice for the non-drinkers/non-partyers. Not really anything has topped that, ever.

I am hoping not to stay too long.

I'm lucky that ours is down the street from my office this year, so I think I'm going to show up for a little while to scope out the food situation, and then leave. The high heels can stay under my desk, though.

Unless I ditch it entirely. I'm not sure I can handle socializing right now, plus I have to do team dinners and outings and events while I'm in NYC next week.

Our office party apparently involves bowling.

NOPE.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I used to love our department's Selfish Santa (white elephant), but that was back in the day when we were a pretty tight-knit group of people with compatible senses of humor. This year I'm not sure it will be as much fun.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I despise forced cheerfulness and comraderie.

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

Yeah. My family occasions are enough like photo ops as it is.(although now I'm picturing CJ Cregg facing my evil stepmonster all "Ask your question or move on," which is making me smile.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Our office party apparently involves bowling.

One year we had lawn bowls. For the last couple of years we've just gone to a restaurant, I rather miss the dada that went into previous offerings.

Oh! Our office does the Kris Kringle thing. This year I was the last person to pick out a name, and I drew myself. After considering the logistics to redo things, I just kept it. So I'm gifting myself this year. (I'm curious to see if I like what I picked out.)

My desktop computer is definitely in hard drive failure. Happily, it's a RAID disk mirrored, so I will likely not lose any data, besides which I think all the important data is backed up with Carbonite, so it's just the annoyance and expense.

Oh, ha ha. Someone wants me to get on a call. That never ends well, and I already want to destroy the world.
