What you did to me was unbelievable, Connor. But then I got stuck in a hell dimension by my girlfriend one time for a hundred years, so three months under the ocean actually gave me perspective. Kind of a M.C. Escher perspective, but I did get time to think.

Goodbye and Good Riddance 2013: That Was the Year That Was

Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Thanksgivukkahmas, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Out you go, 2013!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Steph, are you using a regular blender, or some sort of special one, or what? How does that handle spinach?

I just use a regular $50 Oster from Target. The smoothie website Jilli linked to upthread mentioned that the best way to deal with greens in a non-Vitamix blender is to blend just the greens and the liquid first, until the greens are pulverized. Then add in the fruit and any other stuff. That works fantastically for me.

eliminating grains

I am working my way toward this. Partially because I want to see if it will help me feel better, partially because I am shallow, vain, and have a bunch of events coming up in April.

But no way am I giving up caffeine or sugar. You will pry my coffee with two sugars out of my chilly undead hands. And then I'll send some of the minions after you, while the others go fetch me more coffee.

The Oster listed there is not the Oster I have, although it looks very similar. So far it's working like a pro.

Compassionately intolerant

Yeah, I haven't given up caffeine per se. Lots of green tea, as I have never been a coffee drinker.

I'm using maple syrup and honey for sweetening. And lots of fruit, so it's not much of a low carb regimen.

I've been making gummy treats with gelatin, fruit juice and honey. They are like grown-up Knox Blox. Tasty and healthy.

On Valentine's day, I made an impulse buy of three caramels. I thought the processed sugar would throw me down the well again, but it didn't. The three pieces lasted me two days!

The one thing that DID throw me off my stride was a tub of Indian yogurt from Costco. Mixing it with maple syrup was DELISH. But, it seemed to make me super cravy again. That was disappointing.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

My slacker gift was sent to my giftee yesterday. You should get it next week.

Also, just to reassure potential Santa worries: I only check my post office box once or twice per week, so the "come and collect your gift" note might rest there for a few days till I get it.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Somehow I neglected to subscribe to this thread, so when I found it yesterday and spent yesterday and today catching up, I was breathless with laughter. I love us, I do.

I may have contributed in a small way to the general mayhem. And I got a Thor valentine from Spartacus, too!

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I got a card from Spartacus today, wishing me a nice day. 'Twas a lovely thing to receive on a Monday. Thank you, Spartacus!

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I am still getting Spartacus valentine cards. It's awesome.
