"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

So now I feel like a vulture.

You're not a vulture unless you steal her chair.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Awkward, Suzi!

In good news, I can now put weight on my left foot, or at least use it as a balance point without crutches (which made showering so much easier), and I'm entering the bruising phase (I don't know if that's good or bad or just inevitable). Took over the first floor desk, although the computer there is so bad that I ended up hiking it up to the second floor of a historic house just so that the computer wouldn't make me cry (it almost did when it was so slow that it lost two hours worth of work doing an online order that I was in the middle of double checking before submitting)(or maybe not cry, but scream and break things.)

Also, we had a meeting with new IT guy about new computers, and suddenly the conversation was about things saved in carbonite. I just had to ask. Please tell me you know which questions I had to ask: "Like Jabba the Hutt and Han Solo?"

NO ONE has ever asked him that question before, and my colleagues were dead silent. Come ON!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Julie. are you allowed to put weight on it? Can != should. Consider me a pro in this regard. I spent a couple weeks cheating and I am probably still paying for it.

Definitely not should, and I'm not really, just resting my weight on my right and using the left as a balance point so that I can not worry about the crutches for certain tasks. And certainly not often. Standing flat on both feet is definitely still a no go, as in I shouldn't and I'm definitely not doing that.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Thanks, Burrell! I have a 64 Oz bottle I am working in right now. I am convinced that humanity is three meals away from total anarchy.

I also feel incredibly guilty because people keep buying me stuff, but I am so so grateful that I didn't have to stand in line to purchase it (my abrasion did have one bit of gravel that gouged out a good chunk of skin and is pretty gross, and I ran out of bacitracin and bandage right quick) but no one will let me pay them back.

And I want to clarify that I only discovered that I could use my left foot by accident, when I lost balance and ended up using it to catch myself, and it didn't hurt. I'm not walking on it. Just, a few points during the day, I balance, and it makes things so much easier.

ita !, are you saying that, even though it doesn't hurt, I should avoid even that?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh, in case anyone's interested, there's going to be a thing about the America's Cup on NOVA next week. [link]

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

ita !, are you saying that, even though it doesn't hurt, I should avoid even that?

Not, obviously, ita ! but you can do damage / inhibit healing before you feel pain. And it's so tempting with feet and ankles. I have some pretty good weather indicators because I thought if I could stand to use the foot a tad, it was okay. And maybe I just had a bad injury or not the best care, but it never fully healed. So I would advise caution. And checking with your doctor to see if being able to stand the little hints of weight on your injury are indicative of that being okay.
