Oh, in case anyone's interested, there's going to be a thing about the America's Cup on NOVA next week. [link]
Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Marked, Jesse- thanks!
ita !, are you saying that, even though it doesn't hurt, I should avoid even that?
Not, obviously, ita ! but you can do damage / inhibit healing before you feel pain. And it's so tempting with feet and ankles. I have some pretty good weather indicators because I thought if I could stand to use the foot a tad, it was okay. And maybe I just had a bad injury or not the best care, but it never fully healed. So I would advise caution. And checking with your doctor to see if being able to stand the little hints of weight on your injury are indicative of that being okay.
I'd go with what Cass said. I "got away" with shit that now I'm pretty sure I shouldn't even have started with. Because it stretches and stretches and stretches and although you're not walking, you're working, and if I could have those two weeks back and be lamer and be more able now, I'd make the trade, stat.
Man, I wish this youtube channel had existed (uh, and some of those cars) when I was into motors: [link]
So I'm connected into a person's computer to do something, and he's not very bright about computers at all. I can hear him gasping and say Wow as I moved through these screens I know so well, being awed at my "expertise". I thought to myself, "Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair!" Probably not a good sign when my internal dialogue goes megalomaniacal. But this guy is very clueless.
Where'd everybody go? You're all watching Supernatural, aren't you?
I'm heading to bed.
So, because my neighborhood is awesome, there is one store that is collecting housewares for my friend whose house burned down, another store is collecting clothing for her, her husband and their two kids, and another is collecting toiletries and makeup. And someone else is talking about starting a book drive. It's really pretty amazing.
My meeting with my grandboss was fine, nothing concrete came out of it but she gave me some avenues to explore. I hope I can figure out how to follow through and not be in a position next spring where I'm feeling super stuck in a rut.
Glad the meeting was good, even if it didn't produce an immediate result.
I have 8556 loads of laundry to fold. And the damn dog is shedding like a fiend. He's outside and I don't want to let him in because fur everywhere but he won't stop barking.
GROWL.
In other news, I have a bad attack of the grumpies.
I love how that all came together and how the merchants focused on their strengths (and unwittingly hit all the thoughts I had the other night! But organized!) It's community. One of my carrots moments is that I have community (not a Hampdenite, an Ednor Gardenia...long story.) And that's the best thing that's happened to me in the last decade. Never knew how important to me it was until I found it.
