Some shows make the solving the mystery part of why you're there. Broadchurch felt like you were there for the emotional rollercoaster. Perhaps to jump off it.
I don't even understand the point of casting David Tennant as David Tennant, unless the entire point is to skip the accents.
For some reason, the American version of Broadchurch has become equated with the American version of Inspector SpaceTime in my head, which does not really increase the chances that I will watch it.
