All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Aw. Put some food and water somewhere accessible and pretend he's not there, would be my suggestion. Poor little dude.

Yeah, if you aren't up moving around the cat will be less freaked.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I totally thought lisah was talking about actual dogs and was trying to figure out how she'd gotten dogs to Chicago. Though I think she only has one dog.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Yeah, modulated tones, no approaching, and food were gonna be my recs as well.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

That's what I've done. I've got food and water visible to him if he peeks around the corner of the desk, as well as a litter box nearby should he come out of hiding and feel the need to use it, and after dinner I'm going to watch TV in my bedroom instead of on the big living room screen to avoid freaking him out more.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I used to give Domino a speech to this effect when he'd walk around whining for no readily apparent reason, "I don't feel bad for you! You sleep sixteen hours a day and don't pay rent!...etc." He took it pretty well. Maybe he just needed a little perspective.

Oh yeah -- especially if Homer would be cranky about me dripping water on him, coming in from the rain. "You don't even have to go out in it! I bring all your needs right to you!" Meow.

Punishingly Intricate

We do only have one canine type dog who would have been tired after today's walking too! She stayed in bmore though. We do have a goldfish in our hotel room though. Doesn't need walking though! Its name is Django.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Go about your normal life and ignore the kitty and he'll start to get comfortable. Talk to him, let him get comfortable with the sound of your voice. Let him see you put down the food if you can, so he knows it's you giving it to him and not trying to take it away. That's what I've done the couple times I've socialized a feral kitty and it's worked. YKMV

It took one of my parents' cats a week to even deign to come into her favorite room if I was in it.

I thought I'd posted earlier, but apparently not. Woohoo! Tep! PS, were you aware you're getting hitched tomorrow??

ita & le n, blearg.

I'd like to declare this week dead and gone. It just kept giving and giving and giving...of the most horrible sort.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It was in the pre-cameraphone era, but when Chumley went to stay at Camp Mom (my mother's house) for a couple months, he tried to hide under a cabinet with only about three inches clearance of the floor. Which meant he could only get his head and a bit of shoulders underneath.

He stayed like that for the better part of three hours.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

This is a little weird, but one thing someone suggested to me with Darb was to read to her out loud. Like, sit kind of close, don't look at all and read something out loud. It was incredibly soothing to me and seemed okay to her. Though sitting on the floor reading SPN fic out loud was a little odd.
