I can handle the Oz Full Monty. I mean, not 'handle' handle.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm still unemployed, so I can only look at people who have jobs to get let off early from with the bitterest jealousy.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

You went over her head to her father? That's got to be the weirdest dynamic.

Actually, no; to the person who was the managing editor. We told him he needed to run interference with Big!Boss (this is because, in the past, when Daughter took our department's laser printer away because *she* needed it [you know, because it's not like the Editorial department printed out dozens of galleys a day to be proofread], we objected, and Big!Boss ripped us all a new one and ordered us to apologize to her for our behavior [nope, that's not even a joke] [and we never got a printer back]).

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh good lord.

Like I said, there's a LOT I don't miss. That place was dysfunctional as HELL. But then they did things like cover our entire health insurance. Craxy.

Steph, I think you were working at the WKRP of medical publishing.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I also learned that male cats can pee directly backwards

That's because their penises point backward. Marking territory is more important than ease of mating, apparently.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Marking territory is more important than ease of mating, apparently.

Judging by behavior rather than, say, species survival, that appears to be the case.

There's a big cat sanctuary near here that takes in animals that aren't suitable for zoos, generally from idiots who thought it would be totes awesome to get a tiger cub as a pet. Their tour guides have all learned to say, very quickly, "when he backs up to the cage like that he's not asking for butt scritches. Also, he can pee 10 feet."

brillig

Monday is a normal working day for me. Which should mean a quiet day, as most of the big updates are done and there are no--Praise God!--big storms affecting our customer base.

(off to the National Weather Service hurricane page to check updates)
