Because books.

For a long time I thought Vin Scelsa was "Vince Gelsa." And I also thought Shane Victorino was "Vic Torino."

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

On the allergy discussion, I've been using Nasacort for the past few months, and it works great. The combination of Zyrtec and Nasacort, plus some allergy eye drops when I need them, works better than any OTC or prescription thing I've ever tried before. (Allegra works slightly better for me than Zyrtec does, but the Allegra pills are huge, and I have trouble swallowing them. Zyrtec comes in dissolvable tablets.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

"Joe, from Aldi(the grocery store". I never could figure out why this guy from Aldi was calling my boss, and then I found out his name was actually Joe Fromaldi.

ETA- or the guy at the grocery store who had a charge account that we thought was Pat Pattleinsky. He really owned a business called Pack, Paddle and Ski.

Oh, man -- these made me laugh out loud, and my officemate is having a meeting in my office! I think they are too engaged in their discussion to notice me laughing.

I just remember being a receptionist and having no idea what the name was, but being able to replicate it well enough that the person knew who was calling.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Ok, I might have to try the Nasacort. So far I've tried Claritin, Allegra, and Benedryl, all in combination with Advil when the sinus headache part is bad. Benedryl "works" if by works you mean knocks me out cold. But it leaves me with a lingering hangover the next day, and if it fails to knock me out, makes me a fidgeting, agitated mess of a person unable to sleep. Although that was a generic formulation, so maybe it was just that mix. Claritin has probably worked best for the combination of functional and yet medicated, but it seems to wear off long before the advertised 24 hours.

I used to be deeply confused by TV news guy Jorge Quiroga when I was a kid. I always heard Ho Dicky Doda.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Ho Dicky Doda

Which would be a great band name.

Because books.

Or a 1950s kids show! "It's time for the Ho Dicky Doda Show, friends! Everyone say HULLO HO!"

I was, shall we say, inexperienced in the realm of pronouncing Spanish. And he talked really fast.

This is like Misheard Lyrics! I love it.

When I did phone support, I would just blank on someone's name as soon as they gave it. It just failed to store my short-term memory.
