I'm with Steph, coffee-rubbed pulled pork sounds fantastic. My mom used to make a roast leg of lamb that was marinated in very strong coffee and then coated in a salt and pepper rub. It was amazing. I should try it sometime, but I'm worried that I'll put in a huge effort and then my kids will both turn up their nose at it.
So I had to keep Isaac home again today since he still had a fever of 102 yesterday. That's a 4 day fever! Poor boy. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's behind us. No fever so far today.
I just got a phone call, and THEY DON'T HAVE MUFFALETTA PIZZA TODAY!!
They are sending my garlic chicken pizza. I really wanted to try it after all this thought!
I made a coffee pot roast from a 1960s Heloise recipe once and thought it was just OK.
Feel better, Isaac!
Sophia, I like that they say both bulkie (even though they spell it wrong) and Kaiser roll -- when I left New England the first time, I had to learn what other people call bulkie rolls.
What is kind of funny is around here we just call them "hard rolls"-- neither Kaiser nor Bulkie!
Poor sarameg!
I spent the morning trying to measure my "impact" which has led me to despair. A lot of what I do isn't that measurable, so I have concluded that I must suck.
But Captain Serious (for any Hawks fans) did.
Trolling Tazer is always a good time.
They are compared to hamburger buns. You used to have to pay extra for a hard roll for your burger!
You mean people would request hard buns for their burgers? This is a desired thing? I prefer not to cut my gums on my bread.
Well, if you have a lot of goop on your burger, you want a hard roll- Rochester has a lot of meat hot sauce. Also the choice always seemed to be between a hard roll (kaiser roll) and those hamburger buns you get for the backyard barbecue that are like 50 cents for the whole package of 12 and disintegrate when you try to put a burger on them.
See this menu [link] The goopier items (blue cheeseburger) have the hard roll, the less goopy have the bun, but you really need the hard roll if you have hot sauce.
And you people have to be talking about food.
I was congratulating myself on maybe 6 oz of water and no puking for 3 hrs. And then going upstairs, I puked up the stairs.
Towelled it all up, but I should mop it down and dear god, I am wobbly and feverish and achy and no energy. I'm guessing this is a stomach bug, not food poisoning.
I'm also guessing there's no way in hell I'm swimming tonight.
