I'm so sorry about the snow, people! I wish you could send it back to California, where we really need it.
I feel done for the day. Got up at 6AM to take a bus downtown in the dark to run a 5K with my sister. (Did much better than we expected to, we both placed 16th in our age groups, and under 200 overall, out of 2200 women, yay!) And then we waited for my BIL's race to start, and hung around and got free massages and free beer, and finally went home. Except the buses aren't running right because of the marathon, so we ended up taking a taxi from the BART station.
Anyway, it's noon and I'm exhausted. And the dog hasn't been walked.
But it is a beautiful day.
Free massages and free beer does seem like a good incentive for a run, though.
-t, Walter is a basset hound, right? Or am I imagining that?

Trudat, as they say. Although we didn't drink the beer--I just can't have beer before lunch--and instead brought it home. (21st Amendment brought a bunch of good microbrew in cans.)
I might take a nap, and then vacuum the house and do some website work for my brother.
Well done, Consuela!
Amy, he's a German Short-haired Pointer (per the DNA test, anyway).
I am all full of salad and just want to sit here and digest for a while. 15 more minutes won't make a difference to the lawn...
Whoa, I was way off. They're great dogs.
Oh, Walter! My friend's family German short-hair was always running off. At least once, he picked a fight with a wild turkey (and lost).
Walter would be delighted to meet a wild turkey and disappointed if it wouldn't play with him. If he'd ever been trained to it, he'd make a great hunting dog - he points, he flushes game, he retrieves and he has a soft mouth. He really doesn't like loud noises, though, so shooting would be a problem. He totally looks like a GSP, although he has ALL the flaws that showdogs are not supposed to have (not liver-colored, long hairs sprouting here and there, etc.) and his tail isn't docked (and his long fluffy tail is so cute, I don't know why anyone would want to dock it! I guess it does pick up foxtails pretty good)
He loves to run, but really prefers to do it with me somewhere nearby so he can keep an eye on me. Hiking trails where he can be off leash are the best thing ever. Fortunately, we have a little nature preserve nearby where we do that for maybe a mile. We'll probably go there after I've recovered some from the yard work.
Lawn=mowed. It doesn't look all groomed and perfect, but it's slightly less jungle-y. The one rose bush is tied to the fence, probably won't stay like that but maybe it will. Any further rose wrangling will require buying trellises, I think, and I am not up for that today. Birds fed, plants watered, pond filled, sidewalks swept. I think I am done with working in the yard today!
I am tired just catching up reading all the productivity and fun stuff!
I worked all day at the office. Then came home and made veggie chili. Way more than I meant to, but it will be consumed. Smells wonderful.
We went for a hike in malibu this morning which was sort of fun. Then we had clam chowder for lunch and shoe shopping. The kids watched Frozen and I took a nap.
Mmm, chili sounds so good. I wonder if I have any in the freezer..
I think I might blow off running until tomorrow. I can still be on track training-wise and today I am tired. And the Fuelband says I've reached my exercise goal already.
