mac wants to make a wooden sword today, so that means finding saws in the UNORGANIZED garage and then setting up some work area ( no clamps, no vices ). ugh, I don't wanna be the parent that says no I don't wanna do stuff with you, but guys, I really don't wanna. SItting on ass with possible nap seemed like a much better idea today.

Onesie decorating and bellinis is all any baby shower needs!
Truth.
So, the empanadas are pretty good, but I should have realized the biscuits would be too sweet. Pot roast is cooking. Next is a quiche for breakfasts, because I have all the stuff.

Now make sweet empanadas instead of savory ones?
I may have set my sights for today's yard work a bit too high. BUT, I got the edging done, pulled all the poky-spiky-scratchy weeds that were big enough to spot easily, mowed maybe a quarter of the lawn, and chatted with two of my favorite neighbors (separately, two conversations. One nice thing about everybody feeling like they can comment on one's weight loss, it's a conversational opening for my neighbors that I haven't seen in a while (which is all of them, I've been hermit-y)). Time for a cup of tea and sitting on my ass for a bit. Then I should be able to finish mowing, and feeding the birds and watering the plants are both easy-peasy. The roses may have to wait.

Maybe next time!
So I'm catching up on Ellen, and Kate Winslet is the best. Ellen asks her about her husband's name (Ned Rocknroll) and she's like, "Well, of course I have to say I like it" or something.... and then Ellen asks what the new baby's last name is, and she says "Winslet....for obvious reasons." Hee.
Oh, also the best, from an earlier episode? Wanda Sykes. "No, I haven't see Twelve Years A Slave! I've got white people in the house! I have white children! I can't bring all that into the house!"
tommyrot, those rules are pretty darn close to my house rules.
Why isn't Wanda Sykes on my TV more?
My phone tells me I have burned more calories than I've eaten so far today, so maybe I'd better have lunch before I finish mowing the lawn.
Fucking snow.
Right?! I guess I should go clean the snow off my car and make a Target run.
Oh, self. I left the gate wide open and Walter decided to take advantage and go for a walk. Fortunately, my neighbors all know him and one of them came and knocked on my door to ask if that was Walter walking around without me - at that point he was just hanging out on my driveway looking like maybe we did that all the time. As soon as I came out with his leash, though, he took off down the street. I told him we'd go for a run later, but I guess he didn't want to wait. He only went a block or so this time before he let me put the leash on him and bring him home - less of an adventure than it might have been!
I'm so sorry about the snow, people! I wish you could send it back to California, where we really need it.
I feel done for the day. Got up at 6AM to take a bus downtown in the dark to run a 5K with my sister. (Did much better than we expected to, we both placed 16th in our age groups, and under 200 overall, out of 2200 women, yay!) And then we waited for my BIL's race to start, and hung around and got free massages and free beer, and finally went home. Except the buses aren't running right because of the marathon, so we ended up taking a taxi from the BART station.
Anyway, it's noon and I'm exhausted. And the dog hasn't been walked.
But it is a beautiful day.
