mr. flea and the kids went to the Lego movie yesterday, and I went to the academic library and took notes on a book that has, I shit you not, 1142 pages. And also talked to my crazy former boss, the one with whom I once had a sit-down meeting about whether or not there was toner in the closet.
Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Brag ahead.
As a huge corporation, our company moves very slowly with the annual review process. Today I talked to my boss about my performance over the last year. I won't find out about the promotion he put me up for or any salary increase until some point in March.
He shared the feedback write up that is the basis for the promotion request which included the following...
She instills confidence quickly due to her clear knowledge of the cost and control tools. She mentors others and transfers knowledge within in the PM community. She is very much an exemplary project controls professional.
That last sentence. Damn. ::blush::.
WOOOO Suzi!
I want to go to the Lego movie.
We knew you were exemplary!
For those if you who miss my sister, here is a newly minted Nutty aphorism: "Anyway, I reserve broiling for things that are moist."
That's great Suzi, brag away!
flea, it sounds like you got a raw deal.
I am so dang tired, I can't find my motivation to grade, but it's not like I have a lot of choice on this one.
I once had a sit-down meeting about whether or not there was toner in the closet.
Did you sit down in the closet with the toner (or where the toner should have been but was not)? Because that has a directness I can appreciate.
No, we sat down in her office with the door closed to discuss whether or not there was toner in the closet (20 feet from her office), instead of just looking in the damned closet to see.
finally get my wisdom teeth out
Yay, Jilli! Are you planning on putting them in a locket or choker?
I had all four out over winter break one year. Going back to college like that was fun.....(And I just realized, I have no idea what happened to the teeth. She may have just thrown them out.....)
I know I've told this story before, but I had my wisdom teeth pulled when I was in college. One took a lot of teabag-biting and the like to stop bleeding, and I was feeling kind of queasy from swallowing blood. I was also out of books. I wandered down the dorm hall to find a book, and when I described what was going on, a friend said, "I have just the thing."
That's when I first read Dracula.
. I was also out of books
My mother was telling me today about the time they accidentally left my sister at the park while they were in San Diego--she had apparently been sulking and went off to read her book on a park bench an didn't make the last bus when they thought she was on an earlier one. She then made several distraught phone calls to their hotel room, but they'd gone out to dinner! Eventually they went and got her.
My response was "it's a horror story--SHE ONLY HAD ONE BOOK!!"
