"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I know I've told this story before, but I had my wisdom teeth pulled when I was in college. One took a lot of teabag-biting and the like to stop bleeding, and I was feeling kind of queasy from swallowing blood. I was also out of books. I wandered down the dorm hall to find a book, and when I described what was going on, a friend said, "I have just the thing."

That's when I first read Dracula.

. I was also out of books

My mother was telling me today about the time they accidentally left my sister at the park while they were in San Diego--she had apparently been sulking and went off to read her book on a park bench an didn't make the last bus when they thought she was on an earlier one. She then made several distraught phone calls to their hotel room, but they'd gone out to dinner! Eventually they went and got her.

My response was "it's a horror story--SHE ONLY HAD ONE BOOK!!"

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Go Suzi!

I need to power down soon and head to the airport, but on a mailing list, someone just asked if I ever wanted to repel. She meant "rappel" (there's another story there that Dana knows about) but I really want to respond back that I am interested in subscribing to her literature and would like more information on becoming repellant.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Yay, Jilli! Are you planning on putting them in a locket or choker?

You people know me well. Probably one of those glass-sided locket things, which I know I can order from Etsy. Oooh, I could put the other tooth I had extracted a few years ago in it, too.

I have been putting off dealing with my wisdom teeth for YEARS. But I know I have to get it done (even tho' I don't have dental insurance right now), and better that I do it now, because I've got events, travel, and general GCS appearances starting in mid-March.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

You'd think that we'd check the official website before assuming that Presidents' Day is a holiday that means refuse/recycling collection for our town is pushed back a day.(Answer: Nope.) Ah, well.

I still have one wisdom tooth. It's below the gumline, and hasn't caused any problems, so there it stays.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Roasting more cauliflower tonight. SO TASTY. (It's accompanying tamales and red beans & rice; perhaps not the most natural combination in the world, but we needed a veggie, and there's a head of cauliflower in the fridge just staring at me, so into the oven it goes.)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Our garbage etc. is picked up on Mondays and it's almost never affected by holidays. That seems really weird to me, I'm used to pick-up schedules being delayed all week by holidays as Monday's route gets pushed to Tuesday, and so forth, but not here.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

So, I want to hire Suzi!

Tep, thanks for the Zantac reminder. My skin is still fucked up from an allergic reaction to penicillin, so I might try that.

Our wings are not tired.

I have one wisdom tooth left because the last molar on that side was gone so there was room for it.

Working late tonight so dinner was from the grocery store soup/food/salad bar a block away. Hard to beat. Spring green mix, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, beets, probably other stuff, with a piece of blackened tilapia on top. Then a container of wild mushroom soup to go with it. $8. I don't know why I bother to cook sometimes.

information libertarian

My favorite Book Emergency story happened when a coworker got stuck in the elevator at work (i.e., in the library) for half an hour. Unfortunately, she only had 2 books with her, and they were both juvenile nonfiction books about baseball, and she hates sports.
