Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I'm at work AND DON'T WANT TO BE.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Holidays are gonna be hard for my mom for a few years.

Yes. We lost my father's mother at Christmas and it was hard for a long time. It was a good and bad kind of hard though. The sweetness in the bittersweet moments is worth clinging to.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Was it refined sugar? Sugar in processed foods? Just sugar? Woes! I'm not actually done with all my pie yet!

Yeah, that is hard, Trudy, but that's a nice sentiment.

We had an awkward tablet moment too, this Christmas, because mom & dad have a ton of airline points, so they wanted to spend them and called me up for advice. We chose a nice iPad Air for dad, which he got, but they still have points left over, so they offered to get me one too, yay! We're waiting on the rewards store to stock the Retina mini. But she's buying one for me and not for my sister, so while I was having them set dad up w/ the giftcard we'd sent them, I had to avoid talking about my incoming one, because I don't know if my sister knows about it or not!

Basically any sugar that isn't naturally in a food (like in fruit or milk). (I mean, I suppose sugar is naturally in sugar cane, but that's not really what they mean.)

Yes, yes, that is what they mean! I can chew on raw sugar cane and it will all be fine!

(Ha, though, my dad grew up on a sugar cane plantation and they actually did all do this. It's amazing any of them have their teeth.)

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

They sell raw sugar cane at some of the markets in New Orleans. A few of my friends in college told me that they grew up near sugar plantations, and they'd break off a bit of cane from the plants near the road and "have a chew" while they were walking to school.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

They day after Christmas and I have no voice. My throat hurt and no one is home to tend me. I was even out in the world this morning and didn't pick up and cough drops.

And go team fatty/saggy boobs. Another pain free mammogram. This year I'm more nervous about the results even though I don't have anything person to raise a concern. I just have had too many people get bad news in the last couple of months.

Absolutely! And, uhhh, also, the chewing motion is like working out because it uses muscles!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Happy triple birthdays!!

I certainly hope sugar is more unhealthy than salt and fat. It would make me feel pretty good about my choice to live primarily on cheese.
