Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Thanks to the snow having melted and the light pre-holiday ridership, I got to work in record time this morning. Of course on a day when my in-at-8 boss is off! Oh well. Better than the clusterfucks that were last week.
Maybe I can get my mom to drive around and look at lights tomorrow after church.
Noah's former day care person is moving. But due to licensing issues, she has to have day care today at her old place AND she's supposed to get her new stove and her ATT U-verse installed at her new place. Given that it's impossible to be in two places at once, I'm going to be her waiting person at her new place.
Given your life, Kat, I hope it's a nice hiding-out/playing-hooky kind of time, not just an incredible favor to do for someone!
There is a reason I try not to do things before 9am. I took my car to the shop and managed to get vaguely coherent words out. I got on the train to come home and as the doors were closing it struck me that I had chosen the foulest smelling car imaginable. I switched cars at the next stop, and had an otherwise uneventful ride. As I approached my front door I realized that I had left my entire keyring at the auto shop, not just the car keys. The pet supply/day care that does cat sitting for me is a walkable distance so I was able to get keys there, but I really wasn't quite dressed warmly enough for that extra 40 minutes of outdoor time.
The ducks, they are a'nibblin'.
I am glad she found a new place, Kat! And nice for you to play body double.
3/4 of the kitchen shelves cleaned and lined. I just bought 20' more of liner, which might be enough to finish?
They're still moving staging furniture out of the new house and completing the repairs. Pj apparently had a real come to Jesus with the sellers and realtors and got a highly unusual clause added. So we're moving and prepping.
A while back, I ordered these custom cushions from someone who said she could have them done by Christmas.... I just wrote to check in on them, and she hasn't even gotten the fabric yet! (I mean, she has ordered it, but it has not arrived.) Not that I'm really pressed about the date, but she could have reached out to me about it. Luckily, I do not need anyone to sit on the cushions this week.
sara, what's the clause? Is this lead stuff?
A bird just flew into our window. Hope it's okay.
I'm now folding all of the things and I have to cut 5 more pairs of pajamas and then sew those plus another 2. I think the orange bike ones we'll send to K's sister.
Pre-official close move-in. Personally, I would be leery, but the seller is highly motivated, it's just the lenders' and holiday schedules that turned the actual close date into a moving target. Everyone agrees on that. Appears to be working out, though I think it is freaking the staging people out.
And I'm officially spending the Monday I'm back waiting for the plumbers. The scheduler was perturbed that with a clogged sewer line, I couldn't make the first slot this morning that they'd carved out. Um, not there?
I do wish the warranty folk had the same definition of emergency service as I do( may not realize this contractor is not 24/7?) but that will be discussed later. I can't complain about the cost.
It is time for another round of FUCK CANCER. One friend and one relative have already been diagnosed this month. Now I get a call that my massage therapist (who is the most amazing therapist I've ever had and a fantastic woman) has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
FUCK, FUCK, FUCKITY, FUCK.
